People don’t eat meat because they believe it will lead to a long and happy life The second day of the New Year is believed to be the day that all dogs were born, so the people are extra kind to dogs! Husbands must pay their respects to their wives’ parents People stay at home because it is believed that parties on this day bring bad luck Traditionally the day people visit their families and pray in the temples for wealth The day of birth for all human beings! The people eat noodles and raw fish for longevity A reunion dinner for all of the family Offerings are made to the Jade Emperor, the ruler of Heaven Family and friends are invited for dinner over this three day period. The food traditionally has to be rich and very tasty! After three days of eating, families eat only rice and mustard greens known as Choy Sum, which is believed to cleanse the system.
