The Night Of Halloween
All saints day VS Halloween
All Saints Day





All Saints Day is when the Church
commemorates all saints, known
and unknown. The eve of All
Saints is known as All Hallows
Eve, or Halloween. All Saints Day
is November 1st.
Liturgical Color: White
Type of Holiday: Solemnity, Holy
Time of Year: November 1 (in the
East, the Sunday after Pentecost)
Duration: One Day
Halloween

Halloween is always
celebrated on 31
October.

It is thought that the
colors orange and
black became
Halloween colors
because orange is
associated with
harvest (Halloween
marks the end of the
harvests) and black is
associated with death.
The Black Cat

Black cats are known for giving good
luck, the history of this came from
Britain due to their Pagan roots.
However in Western history, black cats
have often been looked upon as a
symbol of evil omens, specifically being
suspected of being the familiars of
witches; in other cultures such as Asia
they are also considered to be bad luck.
Food

Because the holiday
comes in the wake of the
annual apple harvest,
candy apples caramel or
taffy apples are a
common Halloween treat
made by rolling whole
apples in a sticky sugar
syrup, sometimes
followed by rolling them
in nuts.
Trick-or-treating

Trick-or-treating is a
customary celebration
for children on
Halloween. Children go
in costume from house
to house, asking for
treats such as candy or
sometimes money,
with the question,
"Trick or treat?"
Jack O’ lantern

A jack-o'-lantern is
typically a carved
pumpkin.

In a jack-o'-lantern,
typically the top is cut off,
and the inside flesh then
scooped out; an image,
usually a monstrous face,
is carved onto the outside
surface, and the lid
replaced
