Students can access assignments and academic information anytime, anywhere. Digital Tools that can expand the walls of the classroom. My eCLASS eCLASS C & I Tool (Curriculum and Instruction) BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Our Next Step - BYOD Bring Your Own Device is a popular and expanding phenomenon in American schools. BYOD refers to technology models where students bring a personally owned device to school for the purpose of learning. What kind of access will students have? Internet access similar to what they have when they log on to a school computer. We have GCPS devices in classrooms. BYOD is simply a method of putting more devices into students’ hands. What about security? Three tier filter system No student should be accessing the Internet via a “personal” data plan. We cannot recommend or endorse a device for your family, but we can share some information to help inform your decision-making. BYOD is not something that will happen every day and in every classroom (at least not right away)…teachers will use it when it serves a purpose. Please be patient as the teachers learn how to best implement devices using BYOD. Every teacher will look different in terms of their use of BYOD. Next Steps Each student/parent must complete the Personally Owned Devices (PODs) Release Form before students can bring in a device.
