A distinct title for the “Eternal
One”, who exists outside of time
and space

Symbols?

gave unto Him, to shew unto His servants
things which must shortly come to pass; and
He sent AND SIGNIFIED* IT by His angel
unto His servant John:

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the
honour of kings is to search out a matter.
By concealing certain things, God seeks to stimulate
in us a resolve to analysis, research, and
investigate for those who are truly wanting to
understand.
(It’s no accident that among the most popular TV
shows for the last several years are shows that delve
into forensics, mysteries and investigation.)
It’s In Our Human Nature To Want To
Know What We Don’t Know…God

of kings is to search out a matter.
Why All These Mysterious And
Cryptic Symbols?
It’s like finding precious stones or gold.
You must be willing to dig a little to come
up with those priced and valuable objects.
Rocks lay freely scattered on the surface,
but gold and diamonds must be mined for.
The Scriptures Aren’t Confusing
– We Are
Whenever I find myself running into
something confusing or something that just
doesn’t make sense, I need to stop and
examine if the problem is with ME!
I’ve done this with the Word of God, and I’ve
done this with common day activities.
It’s best to first question ourselves because
we normally are the source of the problem –
whether we like to admit it or not.
The Scriptures Aren’t Confusing
– We Are
Often I’ve been guilty of getting mad or
being impatient with my computer because it
would not do what I wanted it to do.
No matter what, it would NOT respond right.
But I’ve learned that ALMOST EVERY TIME
this happens, it is because I’M DOING
SOMETHING WRONG or OVERLOOKING
SOMETHING that is causing it to act
“wrong”.

The Scriptures Aren’t Confusing
– We Are
The same is true with the Scriptures.
If something doesn’t seem right or
something doesn’t add up, don’t continue to
force it, but step back and allow the truth
take care of itself.
I’ve learned down through the years to admit
it if I don’t understand something, and leave
it in the hands of the Lord.
Some things we will find as we dig deeper!
But there are some important rules to
handling the Word
Safe Rules Of
Interpretation
*Always take the Bible LITERALLY.
*And when the language of a passage
cannot possibly be literal, (Jesus said, “I am
the door”), then get the literal truth being
conveyed by the figurative language.
*Always let the Bible interpret itself.
(Much harm and confusion has come as the
result of people “spiritualizing” the Bible or
coming up with “private interpretations” of a
passage.)
Safe Rules Of
Interpretation
*Approach the subject of Bible prophecy as
HISTORY BEING WRITTEN BEFORE IT
HAPPENS.
*Give the same meaning to words of
prophecy as you do to the words of history.
*Do not seek for some “hidden meanings”.
*Do not think prophecy must be fulfilled
before it can be understood.
*And always allow the Scripture to explain
itself.

And sent *messengers before His face: and
they went, and entered into a village of the
Samaritans, to make ready for Him.
Later in Chapter 2 – 3, we find each letter is addressed
to “the angel of the church of…”. They are the “sent
ones” or “the messengers” for that body of believers.
Pastor are called all kinds of bad things, it’s neat to
know the Lord calls them “angels”!

Spirit of Knowledge = He leads us in all truth
Number Of
Perfection/Completion
Have You Noticed All The
7’s
We are going to see a lot of SEVENS in our
study of the book of Revelation.
Seven is the Biblical number of completion
and perfection.
On the seventh day God rested [ceased]
from His creation work since is was
completed and perfect (Genesis 2:2).
There are more sevens than the average
person notices in this amazing book…

We are living in the age or Dispensation of
Grace, sometimes called the CHURCH AGE.
You and I are experiencing the time of God’s
plan being extended to the whole world!
This age takes up “the things which are”.
Chapters 2 & 3 Are Really The Last
Message Of Christ To The Church!
As far as importance, these two chapters in
Revelation are the Christians most important,
because they are the last mention of the
Church and have at least four different
A Local Application
These where seven actual churches in Asia Minor
(present day Turkey).
A Church Wide Application
Every church has issues that the Lord addresses
in these seven letters.
A Personal Application
Each letter addresses issues in the life of every
single believer down through the church age.
A Prophetic Application
The chronological order of the letters seem to
cover certain time periods throughout church

Take a few minutes and read Revelation
chapters 4 and 5 several times throughout the
week.
Pay close attention to the timing of these events
and the various personalities that we are going to
be introduced to in these two chapters.
