The Assignment
Indicator 14: Percent of youth who
had IEPs, are no longer in secondary
school and who have been
competitively employed, enrolled in
some type of postsecondary school,
or both, within one year of leaving
high school.
(20 U.S.C. 1416(a)(3)(B))

Background

Teaching Research Institute (TRI)
received a GSEG grant

ODE wanted an online data system
District driven
 Easy to use
 Fosters program development/improvement
 Provide all – entry through reports

3
Issues to Consider




Individual student connection between exit
and follow-up process?
Individual student id number and access to
other data collections?
Does state tie post school outcomes into
monitoring?
Where is state in the process of uniting
reporting and accountability between
Indicators 1, 2, 13, and 14?
4
Oregon combines census and
stratified sampling




State submits summary data each year that
represents the ethnic, gender, disability and
exiting method of all exited students in the
state.
To gather these results, some groups of
students – like drop-outs will be ‘over sampled’
to insure adequate numbers.
Districts with less than 15 exited students
interview all
Districts with more than 15 exited students
interview 15 per school or transition program 5

skip patterns

Data Collection Process
General Process:
 If online data entry not possible, use
downloadable copy of paper survey
 District determines method of assigning
calls
 Students selected were reported on
Spring 07 Exit collection, but not Dec
07 SECC
 Grants provide $15 per completed
‘required’ or ‘alternate’ interview
10
Improvement Planning

Districts see progress toward completion goals by subgroup

After verification process complete, district and school
reports provided on same site showing employment,
education, and other interview information for students
with and without exit interview information

Results tied to related monitoring data in “Leaver” report:
