PREREQUISITES
• H.S. Diploma or G.E.D.
• At least 18 – years – old
• Math (9th & 10th grade - math
assessment available
at Schoolcraft Testing Center)
• English-reading, writing & speaking (7th
grade reading level)
• Hand-to-eye coordination; finger agility
• Vision (normal or corrected)
• No prior criminal convictions
• Drug testing and criminal background
check for employment
PROGRAM HOURS: 105
75 hours of instruction in:

Basic anatomy & physiology

Daily pharmacy activities
30 hours of instruction in:

Pharmacy math concepts

9th/10th grade math level

CERTIFICATION
Two national certification exams:
• PTCB exam—offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

• $129—renewal every 2 years
• ExCPT exam—offered by the National Healthcareer Association

• $105—renewal every 2 years
• Renewal consists of doing Continuing Education Credits or CE’s
• Each certification requires 20 CE’s every 2 years

LEVELS OF A PHARMACY TECHNICIAN
Pharmacy Technician Level 1:
An individual with no pharmacy experience, education, training,
certification; works at the cash register or in stock room
Pharmacy Technician Levels 2 & 3:
An individual with education or training in pharmacy technician
education, certified; works in dispensing medications, patient processing
Pharmacy Technician Manager/Supervisor:
An individual with at least 5 years of pharmacy experience; is educated
and trained for entry and advanced level processes, certified,
proficiency in many skills.

• There are no refunds after class has started
• Refunds will not be given for used books/materials
• If there is an extenuating circumstance, a refund request will be
considered and reviewed by MK Education and Schoolcraft College
on an individual basis
• All refund requests must be submitted in written form
