Frequently Asked Questions??

Should I allow my French student to use
our telephone to call France?

NO! With all of the technology available to
us in 2010, there is NO reason for the
French student to call France from your
home phone. If an emergency arises, I will
take responsibility for calling France. Do
encourage your student to use email (FREE)
or Skype (FREE) to contact home.

Frequently Asked Questions??

Should I allow my French student to do a load of
laundry while here?

YES, but under supervision. You are NOT
expected to do their laundry. However, you can
ask them if they would like to wash their clothes.
Have them bring the clothes to the machine,
show them how to load it, put the detergent in
and set the machine. They may have enough
clothes to make it through the week without
washing, but it’s always nice to have a clean
suitcase going back home.

Frequently Asked Questions??

Should I allow my French student to use
our family computer?

YES, but within the normal limits you would
enforce for your own child. They should
NOT be using the computer when they
should be sleeping, nor should they be using
it so often that it takes time away from
family interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions??

Should I allow my French to smoke if it’s OK with
me?

NO! The French students are prohibited by district
policy from using any tobacco or alcoholic product
while participating in a school-sponsored field trip.
The French students were made aware they would
not be allowed to smoke during the trip. Allowing
them to do so undermines the authority of the
district and jeopardizes the future of the exchange
program.
