Questions are essay type, testing you on the concepts learnt and their applications to the world of business (Please refer to individual course study guide) ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC YOU ARE EXPECTED TO: • Have access to an Internet connection, preferably Broadband. • Keep abreast of the business and public systems scenario in the country and abroad by regularly accessing print and electronic media. • Be an active participant on WawasanLearn, your Learning Management System. • Pace your studies by setting aside time per week as per your convenience. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC YOU ARE EXPECTED TO: • Apply the concepts learnt in the programme in the context of your own organisation ,to enable you to question, analyze and compare business and public sector practices. • Share your own experiences with your peers and tutors and contribute to the discussions at the tutorials. • Participate in all learner support activities as best as possible. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC PROJECT COURSE • The Project Course is a capstone course of the CEMBA / CEMPA programme. • It is essentially an independent study to be undertaken by you on an organisational or management issue. • As the Project Course carries 6 credits, a workload of 240 hours is expected to be undertaken by you for this course. • Once you have registered for the Project Course, you are required to send a Project Proposal and you can only begin work on the project when approval of the proposal is received from the University. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC PROJECT COURSE (con’t…) • To ensure that you receive adequate training to handle the preparation of the Project Proposal, conduct the study and write the Project Report successfully, the University has planned to allocate considerable time in the Residential School cum Project Workshop (RSPW) for this activity. • All students taking the Project Course are strongly encouraged to attend the Residential School cum Project Workshop, prior to enrolling for the Project Course. • Once you have been enrolled in the Project Course, you will be assigned a suitable Project Supervisor to supervise your chosen topic of research and you are expected to work closely with your Project Supervisor during the period in your preparation of the Project Report. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC PROJECT COURSE (con’t…) Objective of the Project Course The main objective of the Project Course is to help you to develop and demonstrate your ability to apply multidisciplinary or inter-disciplinary concepts, tools and techniques which you have acquired through all the courses you have taken (including your own work experience) to solve or resolve an interesting or significant organisational and managerial problem or issue. ORIENTATION—JANUARY 2010—PG,KB, IP,KL,JB,KC RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL CUM PROJECT WORKSHOP (RSPW) • Those of you who wish to take up the Project Course are strongly advised to attend the RSPW prior to taking up the Project Course, as the inputs relevant to the preparation of the proposal and Project Report are discussed at length at the workshop. • The RSPW is planned to be held once during each semester starting in July 2009. • Detailed sessions on the preparation of the Project Proposal, on practical issues of conducting research relevant to the Project Course, and on preparation of the Project Report will be conducted during the event.
