Students must be through the front double doors when the bell rings at 7:45 am or they are
considered tardy. As we are all aware, excessive tardies typically lead to excessive absences as
well as a significant amount of lost instructional time. Therefore, in an effort to encourage all
students to arrive on time, consequences will be implemented to discourage late arrivals.
The tardy policy will be as follows:
1st tardy
2nd tardy
3rd tardy
4th tardy
Additional tardies
warning
lunch bunch (quiet lunch at table by themselves)
no recess and lunch bunch
45 minute after school detention with the teacher until 3:30
45 minutes after school detention, teacher notifies the
assistant principal. The AP will contact the parent.
Detention will be held from 2:45-3:30. Parents will be responsible for arranging transportation
for students in detention.
Upon the 5th tardy, the child will be referred to the Hubenak Adminstration. Tardies start over
at the beginning of each nine week grading period.
Tardies are considered a minor offense according to the LCISD Elementary Student Handbook.
All consequences listed for tardies are considered a minimum consequence, however, serious
and/or repeated violations may result in a more severe consequence or referral to the next
level.
As a reminder, tardies count against the Perfect Attendance Award each nine weeks. Please help
in getting your child to school on time.
Please contact Hubenak Administration with any concerns.

State law does allow an exception to the FMNV restrictions and recommends that birthday treats
be served after the lunch period ends so that treats do not spoil students’ appetites’ for a
nutritious meal.

In order to provide a more positive educational experience for your child, disruption of
instructional time is strongly discouraged. Messages will be delivered to students only in extreme
emergencies. Delivery to students of flowers, balloons, cupcakes, treats, treat bags, and other
such items is not allowed at school. Other interruptions to the daily schedule, such as birthday
parties, are not acceptable. Commercial delivery of food and/or drink is also prohibited.

Because of the time constraints, the treat is limited to one item per classmate and it must be a
store purchased single serve item (i.e. cupcake, cookie, etc.) so that it can be served, eaten, and
cleaned up within a reasonable time. PLEASE NO COOKIE CAKES!

Parents can choose to sign up for the Class Birthday list so teachers can give out their names for
birthdays, etc.

Although we cannot prohibit a parent/grandparent from providing food/treats for their child’s
birthday, parents and grandparents may be held personally liable for any adverse reaction
a student may have as a result of food brought in by parents or grandparents.

STUDENTS MAY NOT BRING BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS TO SCHOOL.
Parents must send a note or call the office
for any emergency or unexpected
occurrence before 2:00 p.m. for a
transportation change.
 May not call and leave message or e-mail
the teacher
 Students will not be allowed to go home
a different way without parent permission.
