Transcript Slide 1

We work with Year 4 and upwards. Initially we
deliver general anti-racism workshops, and we
build on these with extension workshops which
look at specific racisms, such as combating racism
towards asylum seekers and refugees, gypsy roma
and travellers, and Islamophobia.
At the end of the session
the young people
produce Action plans
which detail what they
will do to fight against
racism.
We also leave a copy of
the DVD and education
pack with the school to
enable them to build
upon the work that we
have undertaken and
provide them with
information about our
national schools
competition .
The Role of the Media
Show Racism the RED Card
Have you ever got near them? They must really stink!
According to the statistics, they only take a bath once
a fortnight. They can’t make money, they have no jobs
at home, so they come over here to mess up our
economy and take our jobs. And why is there so much
unemployment in their own country? Because they’re
a lazy lot, who don’t want to work. Well let them be
warned, they won’t be allowed to live on social
security here.

Many refugees are arriving in this country, and
in the majority of cases are being turned
back...once it was known that Britain offered
sanctuary to all who cared to come, the
floodgates would be opened and we should be
inundated by thousands seeking a home...our
own professions are already overcrowded and
have been further strained by arrivals in the
last few years from Central Europe.

Challenging Islamophobia
Islamophobia can be described as stereotypes, bias or acts of hostility
towards individual Muslims or followers of Islam in general. Over the last
decade there has been a sharp increase in this form of racism.
We deliver workshops tackling Islamophobia to pupils from year 7 to 6thform.
We are not intending to educate about Islam. Instead we aim to:
• Encourage critical thinking
• Challenge myths and stereotypes
• Highlight positive contributions
• Examine the role of the media
