Institute of Economy, Finance and Statistics
- is a public institution involved in research in the area of economics, finance,
statistics, and social issues, and elaboration of analytical support for reforms and
policy makers. The institute's domain of activity consists in performing scientific
researches in economy, finance, and statistics, reforming of social sphere, agri-food
sector and integration of the Republic of Moldova in world economic circuit.
Within IEFS there are five working services and 6 departments:
• “Policies and mechanisms of economic growth”;
• “Agri-food economics and rural development”;
• " Financial and monetary policies”;
• "Social-economic statistics”;
• "Policies of social development ";
• "Analysis and Forecast”.
There are also an Editorial Complex and The Republican Library of Technicalscientific Information.
The main IEFS national projects
1. Mechanisms of streamlining the public finance management in the context of
Republic of Moldova’s integration in the European union (2011 - 2014)
2. Modernization of the statistical system in the Republic of Moldova in the context of
adjustment to the EU standards (2011 - 2014)
3. Development of a conceptual and methodological base of a new paradigm of
qualitative and sustainable growth (2011 - 2014)
4. Improving the policy of SMEs development and strengthening the partnership
between business and public administration (2011 - 2014)
5. Development of anti-crisis policies for ensuring the financial security of the state in
accordance with EU standards (2011 - 2014)
6. Development of updated cost tariffs and other economic norms for the agribusiness
sector (2011 - 2014)
7. Elaboration of economic policies for the development of the agri-food sector in the
context of ensuring the food safety of the Republic of Moldova (2011 - 2014)
8. Determination of multi-dimensional measurement methods and models of the impact
of demographic aging on different types of economic and social variables (2011 2014)
9. Improving the methodology and evaluation of levels of poverty and social exclusion
in the context of EU requirements (2011 - 2014)
10. Forecast and analysis of macroeconomic indicators of the Republic of Moldova
(2011 - 2014)
11. Diagnosis of the competitive potential of the national economy. Multifactorial
approach (2011 - 2012)

 to carry out basic and applied scientific research regarding

grounding the anti-crisis policies in the banking system
and estimation of their impact on the real economy of the
Republic of Moldova in order to ensure the financial
security of the state.
