A focus on sustainability by implementing key elements of the President’s Climate Commitment and educational and applied research. A leadership role in sustainability, including campus policy development and active participation in regional initiatives and groups. Committee: Richard Tafalla, Jeff Anderson, Susan Foxwell Met 5 times GOAL: Pilot a visiting faculty network diversity program in STEM centered on the following two areas: Sustainability Nanotechnology and Materials Science Will focus on those departments that have key relationships to these areas of focus and also currently face staffing issues due to enrollment growth GOAL Establish partnerships with one or more Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Recruit cohorts of minority scholars will provide social support Scholars may include: Post-doctoral students Visiting Professors ABD Doctoral students Serve 50% time conducting research Serve 50% time teaching. The teacher/scholars will be selected because their research interests are already aligned with the goals of the academic department. Long-Term Goals: Create a research center where visiting minority teacher/scholars can conduct research. Expand to other Stout colleges and programs Identify partner schools in new HBCUs, Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges or other appropriate institutions. Faculty from UW-Stout can exchange with partner schools to teach and conduct research.
