• Announced by Minister for Foreign Affairs on 26
April 2006 as part of the White Paper
• Funding part of doubling of Australia’s aid by
2010 – announced by the Prime Minister in Sept
2005
• Continues spirit of the Colombo Plan – benefits of
common purpose and understanding to the region
