Select a Discipline & Descriptor
If the course you are submitting has been granted a TCSU number, enter it
in the first box.
Select the discipline, click on “Show.” You will then be able to select the
appropriate descriptor against which you are submitting a course from the
drop down menu (you will need to get the approval of your discipline faculty
to articulate with the approved C-ID descriptors).
Tip: you can request a complete Excel spreadsheet of all the approved C-ID
descriptors by emailing [email protected]
1. Select a discipline
2. Click “show”
3. Select a descriptor
4. Click “go”

Course Outline of Record Dates and
Timelines for Review
You will need to enter the effective date of your course outline on
the course submission page.
Course outlines over five years old will not be accepted. If you have
an outline which was more than five years old and submitted before
the system required entry of a CoR date, the course will be deemed
“not approved” by the reviewer. You will then need to initiate the
process once again with a valid course outline.
TCSU Identified Courses
– If you are submitting a TCSU approved course, please note that it will
automatically come up for review five years from the date the TCSU
number was granted.
– TCSU courses already in the system with a date earlier than 6/30/2007
will be reviewed in the summer of 2012.
– Courses that were granted TCSU numbers prior to 2007 will not
automatically be granted a C-ID designation.
All other courses will come up for review five years from the course
outline of record effective date.
Description Document Location Options
On the submission page – you will see three options for
associating your course outline: TCSU number, other
online accessible location (URL) and uploaded (PDF or
Word document).
We’ve provided many options so you may select the one
that is the most efficient for you.
It’s important that these options are used correctly or the
review of your course could be significantly delayed.
The next three slides will provide information on these
options along with tips and suggestions.
TCSU Number Option
To see which disciplines and courses C-ID is automatically granting designation for
courses previously awarded with TCSU, visit http://www.cid.net/CSU_LDTP_Descriptor.html
This page has a spreadsheet of all the courses we are accepting and PDFs of the
LDTP/C-ID descriptor comparisons. Check this page often as new courses are
frequently added.
If your course has a TCSU number and we are granting that course automatic C-ID
numbers, the information will be automatically populated
Enter the TCSU
# here
Other Online Accessible Location
This option allows you to enter a website link which takes viewers
directly to your course outline.
Many Articulation Officers use CurricUNET.
Tips for using website links:
– Link must be publicly accessible to anyone – not password
protected.
– Test your website link before entering it.
– Ensure you copy and paste the entire website link.
Select this
option to enter
a URL address
Uploaded
You can directly upload a PDF or word version of your
course outline to the website.
Do not use zip files or alternative file formats.
PDF format is preferred and more user-friendly.
Select this option to
upload a PDF or
Word document.
Adding Additional Courses
Check this box if
you need to include
additional courses.
You may need to include additional courses in order to meet the
requirements of the descriptor.
Multiple Courses/Sequencing
Multiple Courses/Sequencing
-Descriptions-
Choose this option to indicate a
sequence is necessary.
You would use the above selection if you were submitting a
sequence of courses in order to satisfy the requirements of a C-ID
descriptor
– Example: You might submit two math courses (Math A and Math B) in order to
satisfy the requirements of C-ID Math 900S
Multiple Course Submission to Meet Unit
Requirements
Choose this option when unit
requirements mean more than
one course is needed.
You would use the above selection if you were submitting more than
one course in order to meet the number of minimum units and/or
content required by the C-ID descriptor.
– Example: Because you are a quarter system college, you offer two quarter
courses to complete the C-ID descriptor. You submit your Art 101 and 102 to
meet the descriptor for ARTH 110 - Survey of Western Art from Prehistory
through the Middle Ages.
Multiple Disciplines for Single Descriptor
Select this option when you would
like to submit more than 1 course for
consideration as fulfilling the
descriptor.
You would use the above selection when you have more than one
course that you would like considered for this descriptor.
– Example: You might have two courses in different disciplines (Psychology and
Sociology) which you would like considered for SOCI 140 (Introduction to
Gender).
Other
Select this option when *****.
You would use the above selection when the other categories do
not apply. However, please explain why you have selected this box.
Submit Your Course
Once you’ve entered in your
course information, selected a
document location, and indicated
if additional courses are needed,
click the “submit” button at the
bottom of the page.
Your course submission is then
forwarded to the appropriate
discipline lead, who assigns the
course to reviewers. The goal is to
have reviews completed within 3
weeks. You will receive an email
when a decision has been made
regarding your course.
You can also check the status of
your courses on when you log into
the C-ID website.

Potential Course Status
In Progress
– Your course is currently being reviewed.
Approved
– Your course has been approved and has received C-ID designation.
Conditional
– Your course is temporarily done with the review process; it must be
resubmitted with requested modifications in order to be awarded with
the requested C-ID designation. You have one year to complete this resubmission.
Example – The textbooks were too old and must be updated.
Not Approved
– The reviewers are done with the review and the course was not
awarded with the requested C-ID designation.
Re-Submitted
– You have made changes requested by the reviewers after a conditional
approval and have re-submitted the course outline.
C-ID Approved Courses
A list of approved courses for all colleges
is available on the C-ID website at http://cid.net/course_compare.html
C-ID designations will appear in ASSIST
beginning spring 2012
TIPS
Make sure the courses you submit are
appropriate for the C-ID descriptors
– Example: Do not submit a lab
course for a lecture course, a
physical science course for an
environmental science course,
etc.
Where course outlines are obviously
inappropriate (i.e. lecture only course
submitted for a combined lab/lecture
course) reviewers will deem the course
outline “not approved” for C-ID
designation. You will then need to
begin the process again with the
correct outline.
If a course outline attachment
becomes corrupted, or a link is no
longer available, you will be contacted
by C-ID Staff to rectify the situation.
Your course will not move through the
C-ID review process until you have
addressed the problem.
Articulation Officers have their own
page on the C-ID website. Just click
on the Art. Officers tab. Here you will
find links to: monthly updates, a 4-year
descriptor-based articulation matrix
which is updated twice a month, and
the CSU LDTP Descriptor
Comparison. Additionally, contact
information for the C-ID Articulation
Officer Liaison, Pam Brown Schachter
([email protected]), can be found on this
page.
REMEMBER...
When your college submits a
course for C-ID designation, you
are agreeing to accept that C-ID
course from another college in
lieu of your native course
(intrasegmental articulation).
