In a recent study on the effects of coffee drinking,
researchers at the National Institutes of Health found
that one cup per day “was associated with a 6% lower
risk of dying among men and a 5% lower risk among
women” (Gardner).
The Situation

Your Plan

be optimistic about the potential for change in this
country. He accomplishes this goal by using hopeful and
positive language to describe his vision for:
the energy crisis
 the economy
 education

He also uses negative and pessimistic language to
describe the ideas of his opponents and his
predecessors.
An Important Passage
From Pres. Obama’s 2012 State of the Union Address:
“We’ve subsidized oil companies for a century. That’s
long enough. It’s time to end the taxpayer
giveaways to an industry that rarely has been more
profitable, and double-down on a clean energy
industry that never has been more promising. Pass
clean energy tax credits. Create these jobs.”
Which words and phrases would you use from this?
Key Words and Phrases
