PBS = Positive Behavior Supports
What is PBS all about?
(Information from schools who have implemented a PBS program)
Children are caught being good.
Focus on what we want students to do.
Very Proactive vs. Reactive.
Students report feeling positive, safer, and respected.
Parents report feeling more positive about the school.
Students greet adults and others in the building.
Hallways are quieter.
Lunchrooms are less noisy.
Teachers are talking about academics instead of behaviors.

How Can I Support Patriot STAR
as a Parent?
When your child comes home with a Patriot STAR
•Ask them what they did to receive it
•Help them set a GOAL or area to focus on
•Reinforce the STAR expectations
•Develop your own expectations for what STAR
looks like at home
•Feel free to develop your own Redemption menu at
home or reward them by letting them do simple things
•Help choose and fix dinner
•Choose the game for family night
•Choose the movie for family night
•Eat dinner using the “special plate”
•Stay up 15/30 minutes longer on the weekend
