RESPECT and RESPONSIBILITY are the most important components for all our classes to function effectively Students are required to copy daily agenda from each class Homework expectations for each class are content specific 8C behavior expectations are clearly defined and are course specific

Grading

Students are to complete all assignments to the best of their abilities Students are expected to master skills from post test assessment tools Projects, exams, and other formal assessment have specific values in your child’s total grade Citizenship grades are factored in your child achievement Extra Credit assignments or tasks are given through the discretion of the teacher

Parental Involvement

Parental involvement is strongly encouraged in an effort to support your child’s academic growth Get involved in 8C sponsored community and campus activities Parent conferences will requested by team if all avenues of behavior intervention and modification have been exhausted Parents are encouraged to call for appointments to address concerns PFC Outreach program is available for families in need of assistance 1 st quarter Progress Report issued by September 14, 2007 1 st quarter parent teacher conference is scheduled for scheduled October 30, 2007

Why has my child’s schedule changed?

Schedules were changed due to child’s reading and comprehension level. Middle school concept required core teachers must be the same. Schedule also depended on the course L.A. and reading teacher are assigned

Does every child have a textbook?

Reading, Science, Math only class set is available. Social Studies- each child issued a book, class set also available, book checks every two weeks. Language Arts & Reading books will be issued to students in the following days

Will there be an 8

th

grade promotional?

Discussion among 8 th grade teams have been ongoing, 8C teachers will be supporting an 8 th grade promotional ceremony

What is the Zero Tolerance Policy?

No weapons or toy weapons allowed on campus. No fighting. No graffiti. No alcohol/ drugs (cigarettes, marijuana, ice, etc.) and drug paraphernalia (lighters, pipes, etc.) All violations will result in suspension.
