DQ: What factors prevent “normal”
development?
Timeline: 4-5 weeks
Overview:


You’ll work in teams to identify a group that
struggles with healthy development in a specific
area.
You’ll design and make a product that helps
them develop properly (collaborate with Design
class, Ms Jones)
Project Deliverable

Your “client” is a population that you identify as
having a developmental problem
Examples of developmental areas:






Biological development – unhealthy, slow growth,
infertile, malnutrition,
Language development – not on target with
speech, writing
Cognitive development – slow learner, negative
thinking, not practical
Social development – few friends, can’t relate to
people, problematic romantic patterns, lonely
Moral development – can’t tell right from wrong,
crime-prone
Identity development – no sense of purpose, low
self worth, bored with life
How have YOU changed?


Look at your school photo taken last year
How’ve you changed since then?




Physically (biologically)
