Annual Review of
Competence Progression
Intending Trainers’ Course
The what?
O Each summer “The Panel” meets to review
the e-portfolios of trainees
O Only those deemed to have “Unsatisfactory
Progress” or who have been “Referred to
Panel” considered (and 10% as quality
control) and all ST3s
O Virtual exercise
O Typically consists of a lay assessor, an ES
and 1 or 2 TPDs (from another scheme) and
a chairperson from HENE.
The Educational Supervisor’s
Duties
O Complete the ESR 2 weeks before the
panel meets
O Flag up to the Training Programme as
early as possible if likely to make a
judgement of Unsatisfactory Progress
or Refer to Panel so a report can be
produced.
The Training Programme’s Duties
Submit a short report to the panel detailing
any extra information they have:
O Review meetings
O Extenuating Circumstances
O First month concerns forms
O Etc.
Outcomes:
O Satisfactory Progress
O Has gained all the required competences for
the completion of training
O Unsatisfactory Progress:
Development of specific competences
required
Additional Training Time Required
Released from Training!
