The National Emblem of India
is derived from the time of the
Emperor Ashoka. The emblem
is a replica of the Lion of
Sarnath, near Varanasi in Uttar
Pradesh.
The four lions(one hidden
from view ) – symbolising
power, courage and
confidence- rest on a circular
abacus.

Aryabhatta
Invented the Zero.
Aryabhata is the author of several
treatises on mathematic
and astronomy, some of which are
lost. His major work, Aryabhatiyam,
a compendium of mathematics and
astronomy, was extensively referred
to in the Indian mathematical
literature and has survived to modern
times. The mathematical part of
the Aryabhatiya covers arithmetic,
algebra, plane trigonometry, and
spherical trigonometry.

in present-day Gujarat, India,

nonviolence and courage,
which he derived in part from
the teachings of Hinduism.

The Taj Mahal
One of the world's most famous structures, the Tāj Mahal
was under construction from around 1630 to1650. Shah
Jahan built it as a memorial to his wife, who died in
childbirth. It is located south of Delhi in Āgra, where the
Mughal Empire (1526–1858) built its capital.
Construction of this marble mausoleum drew artisans
from far and wide, and the edifice attracts numerous
admirers today.
