How should I respond to tutor
feedback?
Receiving, reflecting on and applying feedback is
essential to personal development in your studies.
• Highlight key points in the feedback
• Consider re-writing certain elements of
assignments – some tutors may be happy to look
at this re-working.
• Be reflective – think about what the tutor means,
why they have made that comments and what
you can do differently.
• Translate your feedback into SMART goals Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely
Next steps
• Clarify any points you didn't understand with the
tutor - Don't be afraid to ask!
• Follow up on any action your tutor recommends
• Refer to Study Skills handbooks for tips to
improve areas of weakness (e.g. Stella Cottrell,
Andrew Norton)
• Apply what you have learnt to your next
assessment; keep in mind your feedback and
make sure you don't repeat the same mistakes
• Be proactive – if you are have any difficulties with
your studies then seek support
