The University of Salerno presently offers to his 60,000 students 9 Faculties, 26 Courses of Degree, 8 Courses of Diplomas, 17 Courses of Doctorate, plus an international Course of Doctorate and 2 international Courses of Master. Salerno is a medium-size Italian town (some 150.000 inhabitants) located 50 kms. south of Naples and some 250 kms. south of Rome.

The University of Salerno has its own campus, located 8 kms. from downtown right at the junction with the motorway Caserta-Salerno (A30). Several buses connect the campus with central Salerno and Avellino. Some connections also exist with other towns (including Naples and Potenza).

Naples Capodichino is the nearest airport, located some 40 kms. away, offering daily nonstop scheduled flights with several Italian and European (Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, London, Munich, Paris) airports.

Each area has got skilled human resources and high level equipments. The DIMEC is interested not only in teaching and research, but also in the establishment of consultancy/research relationships with local firms.

UNISA is mainly specialised in development of Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems and in process management and organisation.

Nowadays UNISA is involved in projects related to • Advanced design method for quality and life cycle cost of products • New methodologies for product re-design aimed to environmental impact reduction • Internet impact on the management and organisation of product development • Process and logistic organisation • Supplier involvement in new product development
