A brief history
1959 1961 1970 University friends Jim Bettison, Ian Wall and Alastair Wood establish EILCO EILCO releases first High Frequency (HF) radio EILCO wins contract to re-equip Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS)
1970 1973 1976 EILCO forms a joint venture with AES called Codan Pty Ltd.
Codan begins exporting HF Radios to Papua New Guinea and USA Codan pioneers selective calling capability in its HF radios
1979 1980 1981 Codan acquires an interest in IMP Engineering Pty Ltd.
The United Nations makes a significant purchase of HF Radio equipment for relief efforts in Uganda Codan produces satellite RF subsystems for AUSSAT to support Australia’s first satellite system
1983 1986 1993 EILCO acquires 100% of Codan and changes name from EILCO to Codan Pty Ltd Codan releases a revolutionary HF automatic tuning whip antenna and its first Ku-Band satellite transceiver Codan launches world’s first commercial modem for HF fax and data transmission
1998 2003 2006 Codan releases New Generation Transceiver (NGT) Series with revolutionary HF interface Codan successfully lists as a public company on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) Codan manufactures 50,000 units of 9350 HF Radio antennas
2008 2009 2009 Codan acquires Minelab—world leading metal detection company Codan acquires Locus Microwave— USA company specialising in X-Band products Codan celebrates its 50 th Anniversary
