Orivesi was established in 1865 amidst the beautiful Finnish nature. It is
situated in the southern Finland, 200 kilometers north of Helsinki and only
for a half an hour journey from Tampere and Pirkkala airport. The city is
easily accessible either on the main road 9 or along the road 58/60. You can
arrive at Orivesi also by train.
Orivesi is a small city of about 9000 inhabitants and it offers all essential
services. Over 70% of the inhabitants live in residential areas. Orivesi is
quite a large city of its square area, covering 545 square kilometers on
ground, and its water area extending to 107 square kilometers. Its woods,
its fields and its over 220 lakes invite the visitor to experience the nature
and the wilderness. Recreational opportunities are excellent. Besides nature
trails, skiing tracks, sports fields and beaches, a swimming pool, ice skating
rink and extensive sports facilities are available for sports pursuits.
Orivesi is also a culturally active and lively city, especially in the summer.

Our school inspires students to do their very best in
everything they take part in. We are an active school
which with nearly 190 students and nine teachers. Our
students are from 6 to 12 years old and we have
classes from preschool up to grade six.
•
Rovastinkangas aims to be more than just a school. We
have emphasis on art and skill subjects such as sports,
music, art and handicrafts. In addition to those we also
concentrate on media skills. Our students study English
already in preschool.
•
The students have a very active role in our school.
There is an influential student counsel and a cheerful
Cheerleaders group. We also have a god child Ishan, in
Sri Lanka, whose studies we aid financially and of
course we are participating project called”Life across
Europe”
•
The school of Rovastinkangas is a modern school with
high technology. We were formerly known as the school
of Vehkalahti, but since August 2006 we moved into a
new school building and changed the name of our
school into Rovastinkankaan koulu.
