These areas often interlink, providing a holistic learning experience.

• Education city homework is set on line for a
two week period.
School Houses each child will be assigned to
one of the four school house families .
Show and tell dates your child will be given a
specfic day in which they can bring in a toy or
item of interest to talk about.
Topic - an over view is given at beginning of
every term. This term it is Ourselves settling
into school.

notice board outside and e-mailed each week.
• Timetable will vary to follow children's
interests .

HEALTHY SCHOOL
• We are part of the Healthy Schools Network
• We will be continuing to hold a Fairtrade tuck
shop once a term
• The children are provided with fruit in the
morning and they may bring in a healthy
snack for the afternoon

ASSESSMENT
• Your child’s progress will be recorded in their
Learning Journey Folder.
• Monitoring the skills that children are developing
• Enabling staff to plan effectively in order to meet
children’s learning needs.
• Pupil progress meetings take place during the year
with a member of SLT, SENCo and Class Teacher
• Parents’ Evenings will take place in Terms 1, 3, 4 and
6
• The assessment for the end of Reception is
called the EYFS Profile
• For each of the seven curriculum areas ,
practitioners must judge whether a child is
meeting the level of development expected at
the end of the Reception Year (expected),
exceeding this level (exceeding), or not yet
reaching this level (emerging).
• The EYFS Profile will also include a short
commentary on each child’s skills and abilities
in relation to the three key characteristics of
effective learning.
BEHAVIOUR
• New code of conduct and behaviour policy
• Class rules
• Adults clap out a rhythm or sing short phrase. Children are expected
to stop and look at the adult and echo clap or phrase. Adult emphasises
need to listen for instructions .A good learner needs to be a good
listener.
• At carpet times visual clue cards are shown to emphasise expectations
for good sitting good listening and waiting turns to speak.
• Children are rewarded for making good choices .They may be given
verbal praise , class applause, a sticker or a house point .
• Children making choices not to follow expectations have their name
written on the white board under a “sad face.” They then have time to
show they can make better choices. If this doesn't happen then part of
a play time will be lost.
• If this was a frequent reoccurrence parents will be informed.
ABSENCE
• Please notify the school by telephone before
8.50am
• If your child is sick, they should be kept home
for 48 hours
• If your child arrives after the register has been
taken, please ensure you sign them in, in the
school office
• Requests for Annual leave- appointment to
see Head teacher
• Pupil attendance target is 96%+
PARENT VOLUNTEERS
• If you would like to be a parent volunteer,
please advise the class teacher
• Meeting will take place on Thursday 11th Sept,
3.00pm for anyone interested.
Question Time
