Admissions
Criteria:
• OMS I or II
• Minimum GPA of 3.5 OR within the top 25% of the class
• History of community service involvement and extracurricular
activities
• Past leadership experience
• Commitment and dedication to Osteopathy
Process:
• Online application
• Each application is read by 3 members (blinded to the applicant)
• Interviewed by current members
• Applicants are notified of acceptance after grades are verified by
the Faculty Advisor
SSP Active Member Requirements
1. SSP members must attend all General Meetings.
*Last Tuesday of every month
2. SSP members must complete 10 community service hours,
4 of which must to be SSP hours, per semester.
3. SSP members must coordinate at least 1 SSP event per year.
4. SSP members must participate as a volunteer in at least
1 additional SSP event that is not their own project.
5. Maintain 3.0 GPA or higher.
6. Assist in conducting interviews for new members.
Devotion to Service
Of all TOUCH (Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community
Health) Awards, SSP members received 47% of the total awards
• 1 SSP member received the Platinum TOUCH Award (most community
service hours in the College of Medicine)
• 4 SSP members received the Gold TOUCH Award
(>100 hrs of community service)  50 % of TUCOM recipients
• 16 SSP members received the Silver TOUCH Award
(>50 hrs of community service)  47 % of TUCOM recipients
SSP-Tau Chapter members contributed over 2047.25 community service
hours
At TUCOM, SSP comprised over 42% of total TOUCH hours for the TOUCH
period of April 2012 – March 2014
