Introduction:
 First we should know what is science,
knowledge, and also scientific
knowledge. Simultaneously, we will be
concerned about socio-economic
structure in Bangladesh along with the
essentiality of this course as a student of
business administaration.
Introduction
:
• There are two ways of expressing the term
•
science. Science (from the Latin scientia
meaning “knowledge” ) is, in its broadest
sense , any systematic knowledge-base or
prescriptive practice that is capable of
resulting in a prediction or predictable type
of outcome . In this sense ,science may
refer to a highly skilled technique or
practice .
In its more restricted contemporary sense,
science refers to a system of acquiring
knowledge gained through systematic
research . Science is continuation effort to
discover and increase human knowledge
Features of Science:
The word science probably brings to mind many
different pictures . These are ;
• Science is both a body of knowledge and a
process.
• Science is exciting .
• Science is useful .
• Science is ongoing .
• Science is a global human endeavor.
• Since to immemorial, many thinkers
endeavored to detect the laws of everything
in the universe and to systematize the
knowledge. This systematic knowledge is
called science. Accordingly, there are two
branches of science: natural science and
social science.
Now how will you conceptualize the term
knowledge:
• Knowledge is defined, by the oxford
•
English dictionary, (a) expertise , and
skills acquired by a person through
experience or education ; the theoretical
or practical understanding of a subject ,(b)
what is known in a particular field or in
total; facts and information
The term knowledge is also used to mean
the confident understanding of a subject
with the ability to use for a specific
purpose if appropriate.
–
What is scientific knowledge!
• The term scientific knowledge is attributed
to some facts and principles that are
acquired through the long process of
inquiry and investigation. The
investigation takes a long time because it
goes through various aspects to come to a
conclusion and the aspects include all the
laws, theories, concepts, and models.
However, it is necessary to
depict the features of the
above
two
branches
of
science: features of Natural
and Social Science. Science
can be explained in terms of
the following characteristics
of social science and natural
science
in
the
below:
The characteristics of natural
science and social science:
• The elements of natural science exist in the
nature and the outcomes of the research in
natural science is same conducted in any place
of the world. The nature of the elements of
natural science is same from the beginning of
the universe. On the other hand, the elements
of social science are human being, their society
and culture. The nature of human being, society
and culture are always changing and it is a
natural process. Hence, the result of social
science is not same on time and space basis.

Definition of Socio-economic study:
Socioeconomic
study
or
socioeconomics is the study of the
relationship between economic activity
and social life. The field is often
considered
multidisciplinary,
using
theories and methods from sociology,
economics,
history,
psychology,
anthropology and many others. It has
emerged as a separate field of study in
the late twentieth century on social
attitudes and norms of human beings.
Definition of Socioeconomic Study
 In many cases, however, socioeconomists focus
on the social impact of some sort of economic
change. Such changes might include a closing
factory, market manipulation, the signing of
international trade treaties, new natural gas
regulation, etc. Such social effects can be wideranging in size, anywhere from local effects on a
small community to change to an entire society.
Many sholars say socio-economic study is a
source and a branch of elementary issues of
economics and sociology or in a word part of
social science , it has direct effects on human
beings, society and culture.
