The Jumper
• Adam Henryk Malysz (born 3 December 1977) is a legendary
former Polish ski jumper born and still living in the town of Wisla
in southern Poland.
• He is married to Izabela and has one daughter, Karolina. His life
motto is "Be good and just" and his idol is former German ski
jumper Jens Weißflo.
• Adam Malysz was one of the best and most successful ski
jumpers in history, winning 4 individual Olympic Games medals, 4
individual World Championships (all-time record), 4 individual
World Cup titles (all-time record) with 39 competition wins and 92
podiums in total. Only Finn Matti Nykanen won more (46 wins).
Malysz is the only ski jumper ever to win the World Cup 3 times in
a row. He has also won the most titles in the history of the
individual
World
Championships.

The Greatest
• From all over the Polish country, thousands of fans travelled
especially to support Adam in competitions. He became a sports
icon for them. Both his wins and losses came as an electric
shock for the whole country. On weekends millions of Polish
people sat in front of their TVs to blow air to lift his skis and wish
him good luck. Despite being so successful, he still remained a
modest and sensitive person – a role model for his fellow
youngsters.
• 26 March 2011 was the day when Malysz officially ended his
sports career and made his last jump on the ski-jump in
Zakopane. Best ski jumpers came to Zakopane to honour him in
a competition of aim-jumping. All the Polish people, as the nation,
are proud of Adam Malysz, who brought international fame to
Poland thanks to his hard-work, perseverance and talent.
• For his sporting achievements, he received the Order of Polonia
Restituta.
