Special Education Needs Coordinator
(SENCo) is Mrs Faithfull.
Responsible for any additional needs that
pupils may have and leading team of
Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
Works with Educational Psychologist,
Speech and Language Therapists and
Specialist Advisors.
Individual targets will be created for all
children including those with additional
needs. These will be shared with
children and parents each term.
Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) will be
written and discussed with children and
parents as required.
Stretching our Children





More Able Children are managed by Mrs Faithfull.
Responsible for tracking more able children and
ensuring their individual talents are catered for
including academic subjects and sport and creative
subjects
Progress is tracked by the school and governors.
Needs are catered for in class. All teachers have
had training to ensure challenging work for more
able children is set within the context of each
lesson.
Some groups attend various activities organised by
other schools in the area e.g Maths Olympiad and
Press Gang.

Track suit style clothing should only be worn for games activities.
Shirts and Polo shirts should be tucked in at all times.
P. E. Kit
County regulations dictate that for gymnastic and movement lessons in the school hall children must be
barefoot, even if they have cuts, blisters or a verruca. If these are split and or painful they could be covered
with a sticking plaster. For invasion games with apparatus (e.g. hockey) a pair of lightweight plimsolls (NOT
TRAINERS) should be worn. Trainers or a separate pair of plimsolls should be worn for outdoor games.
Therefore, either two pairs of plimsolls or one pair of plimsolls and one pair of trainers are needed.

Expectations:
Reading and Spelling –30 minutes per week
Homework task – 30 minutes
Homework Club – Every Monday after school (please ask
for a permission slip) - and this can be particularly helpful
if your son or daughter doesn’t have access to a
computer, the internet or a printer at home.
Behaviour Code
A copy of our behaviour code has been sent home in a newsletter and is also available on our website. This is
based around the Golden Rules:
Do be gentle
Do be kind and helpful
Do work hard
Do look after property
Do listen to other people
Do be honest
Do not hurt anybody
Do not hurt people’s feelings
Do not waste your or other people’s time
Do not waste or damage things
Do not interrupt
Do not cover up the truth
We also have a range of rewards – STEP awards, Merit Awards, Praise Points, House points
Sanctions are applied as follows:
A gentle, non-confrontational verbal or visual reminder of appropriate behaviour and a request to stop the

A child is given a verbal warning, the rule broken is explained to child and the child’s name is
recorded on the class display
The child’s name is moved to the next step on the class display, with a reminder of a)
appropriate behaviour and b) that s/he is at risk of losing Minutes
The child loses 5 minutes of break time .
The child is given a lost lunchtime, Parents are sent a text telling them why their child has
received a lost lunch.
If a child receive more than 2 lost lunches in a week then they will be given an afterschool
detention on a Tuesday or Thursday with the Assistant Head teacher or Headteacher.
The child is sent to a member of the Senior Leadership Team and can be isolated internally or
excluded.
If a child persists in misbehaving beyond step 4, if there is a consistent pattern of misbehaviour or in cases of
extreme behaviour, then the Headteacher may issue a fixed term or permanent exclusion, and afternoon
detention, isolate the child from the class for a fixed period, invite the parents in to discuss the child’s behaviour
or initiate an Individual Behaviour Management Plan.

Lunch & Snacks

There is a choice of hot and cold school dinners
available for £2.00. There is a 3 week menu that
can be seen at www3.hants.gov.uk/caterers
If you are entitled to free school dinners, you can
collect a form from the office, or download one from
the school website.

Mid-morning snacks are also sold and cost 30p for
a piece of fruit, bread roll or cup of flavoured milk or
fruit juice. A box of raisins costs 10p and cartons of
fruit juice or fruit bread cost 35p.
Alternatively, you can send in a piece of fruit or a
carton of fruit juice for break time.

We do ask for plain water only in class.
Parent Volunteers

All volunteers must be DBS
checked.

What to do if there is a
problem


Speak to your child’s teacher on the
playground at the end of the day,
send a note or phone to make an
appointment.

School Council
Children are taught about democracy and how the
system works.
 They are also encouraged to take part in the
decision making process within school.
 Each class elects a class councillor.
 School Council elections will be held w/b 30/10/14
 Council gives the children a voice and a forum to
enter into discussions about things that matter to
them.
e.g Installing the ‘Buddy Bench’ on the playground.
 OFSTED will write to the School Council when they
visit Hart Plain. They meet with the members to
discuss positive aspects and targets for the school.

Government Expectations

Children are regularly assessed and your child’s
levels for Reading, Writing and Mathematics are
reported to you at the end of the year so that you
can compare your child’s progress with national
expectations.

