Click OK. Your personal folder file is
now on your hard drive and displayed
in Outlook with the rest of your e-mail
folders.
A personal folder file is a Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2003 folder that is
stored on your computer. Save your Outlook e-mail messages and items
in this folder to save space on your Microsoft Exchange Server.
Personal folders function just like your regular e-mail except that their
content resides on your computer (offline) instead of on your Exchange
Server (online).
How To Create Personal Folder Files
1 On the File menu, point to New and click Outlook Data File.
2
In the New Outlook Data
File dialog box, click the type
of storage your prefer.
Note If you choose Office
Outlook Personal Folder
File (.pst) instead of
Outlook 97-2002 Personal
Folders file (.pst), you will
get more storage capacity
and multilingual support, but
your personal folder file will not be compatible with Outlook 97-2002.
3
Click OK.
4
In the Create or Open Outlook Data File dialog box, type the name
of your personal folder file in the File Name box. Click OK.

4
Click More Advanced Options.
5
Select the Search hidden files and subfolders check box and then
click Search.
At any time, personal folder files can be moved to storage locations on your
computer, or elsewhere. Here’s how to find your .pst files when you need to
copy or move them.
1
Click Start and then click Search.
2
Click All files and folders.
3
In the All or part of a file name search box, type *.pst.
Note Your .pst files are hidden. Since your .pst files are not displayed in
your file folders, you may have difficulty finding them. To view hidden
files, open the folder with the hidden files. On the Tools menu, click
Folder Options. In the Folder Options dialog box, click Show hidden
files and folders. Click OK. The default location of your .pst file is:
C:\Documents and Settings\YourAlias\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\Outlook\Personal Folders.pst.
