Luxembourg
1.Construction of Europe.
The E.U is an union of countries. It’s
composed of 27 countries. It was created after
the second Word War to create a pacified zone.
Many statesmen founded the E.U.
Luxembourg is a part of the Schengen
Agreement.
This country is in E.U since 1952. And
since 1999, it has used euros.
2.Introduction of the country.
• Luxembourg is one of the smallest countries
in Europe. But it has approximately 524 853
people in 2012.
• The Luxembourg is at the North-East of the
Europe and has for capital Luxembourg city.
There is a lot of banks and it’s also a tax
heaven.
The border between Luxembourg and Germany
is formed by three rivers : The Moselle, the
Sauer and the Our.
• The language :
The Luxembourgish, the national language,
looks like the German. The German is the main
foreign language for most Luxembourgers and
it’s used in the medias. The French is the
administrative language.

• « Ons Heemecht » (Our Homeland), is the
national anthem of this country, since 1895.
3.Customs
• The Luxemburgers eat a lot of pastries (tart
cheese).
They have different traditional dishes like :
sauerkraut
pretzel
kuddelfeck
4. The traditional celebrations
• The national day :
In the Capital, the celebrations begin with a
torchlit procession in front of the palace. At the
end, thousand of people attend a beautiful
fireworks launched form the Adolphe bridge.
• The Octave :
The Octave celebrated in honnor of the God's
Mother is the biggest religious event of the year.
• St Nicholas’ day :
The eve of 5th December, Saint Nicholas and
his black-weared servant ring the door in order
to give presents to the children.

4.History
• During the first World War, Luxembourg was
invaded and occupied by Germany, but was
allowed to maintain his independence and
political mechanisms.
• During the second World War , Luxembourg
was unable to maintain his policy of neutrality.
When in 1940 Nazi Germany invaded and

It was created in 1572. It’s the official
residence of the Grand Duke since 1890. The
palace is the one of the main tourist attractions
of the Luxembourg city.
