Why did we put a pause on GSOD 1.0
 Provider Focus Groups – Summer 2011 and Summer 2012 – we
listened and made changes.
 Providers’ concerns about ITERS and ECERS
 Teacher-child interaction to be measured better in GSOD
 CLASS – Classroom Assessment and Scoring System – measure of
teacher-child interaction
 Research suggests that children in classrooms with higher CLASS
scores have better outcomes
 Race To The Top Challenge Grants’ expectations – CLASS
 All of the above required a revisit of GSOD 1.0 standards
