Situation
My brother, Glenn,
(is trying to get ready to go out for a meal) and as he
is doing this, he finds that he is being distracted by his
little sister, Emily.
It would help if Emily who is 3 years old had
something to play with and keep her occupied.
Design Brief
I am going to design and make something that will
keep Emily occupied and learn new things.
It will also stop her from distracting my brother, Glenn.

Checklist of ways to improve your work and your grade!
- Have you presented your work accurately and neatly? –
Rub out all pencil, write in pen, use fineliner, colour inside
the lines, borders are all the same.
- Have you completed all the tasks that have been set by
the teacher when it was marked?
-Have you checked over your spellings?
-Does your work make sense?
-Have you completed all the work that was set in the lesson
-Have you done your best and put in all your effort?
Extension work –
If you have completed a section of your work OR you are
waiting to use the laser cutter – complete the tasks below
Task 1: Create 4 logo ideas onto an A3 sheet of paper for your
company. You are free to create these ideas separately and bring
together as a final outcome. They must show what the company
name is either through text or a picture or BOTH! Use colour. This
must not be done on computer until the final one is chosen!
Task 2: Create a set of instructions for either the child or the
parent/carer who will read the instructions to them. They have to be
EXACTLY how you want them to use it, step by step and must
include pictures. This can be done on the computer Period 1 only
and in Period 2, it must be done on paper. – Be imaginative and
don’t just opt for PowerPoint!!
You must show where your toy will be used (the place that you said
in your situation). This can be done either by
Taking a photograph (or a few) of the place. For example if you have
said the living room with the ironing board, this must be in the picture.
You will then email the picture to me at
@jrcs.bardaglea.org.uk
OR
You can draw a plan view of the room as if it was an architects drawing
(See next slide). Use squared paper for this to show realistic
measurements.

6 – Final design
In this step I created a model of one
of my ideas to see how it would
look. It made me think about the
materials I would need and it also
made me think about how things
were going to be attached together.
