32 Governors pledged that we would
use STARZ as our focus as Governors
both individually and globally
This has been the overarching theme
for me in leading the D22 Board as your
inaugural D22 Governor.

How can the district simplify operations
for the district and for clubs?
• Gather and create resources
• Determine the best way to communicate
and share those resources

How can we increase the visibility of district
operations?
Our board serves you – the clubs – develop an efficient,
concise communications plan utilising various methods:
• Email
• Website
• Newsletter – celebrate accomplishments/resource
tool (Best Practice focus)
• We are exploring Email groups

A - Accountability
District Performance and Reporting
• Define measurable goals that “fit” the
goals and mission of Zonta International
as outlined in our Plan – Towards 2010
and beyond
• Report using electronic D22 Club Reprting

Zonta International and to YOU

• The Bridge from ZI to you and back
• Responsible to provide you with advice and
resources

undertaken in Zonta’s name
• Focus on combining service with
advocacy
• Focus on developing our future leadership
so Zonta can continue to grow and be
relevant in the future

Membership & Recruitment
• We currently have 1159 members
– We remain committed as your Board to work with Clubs
to assist you in your membership strategies
• Differing membership expectations and length of
continued service for Gen Y
– Flexibility in their membership obligations
– Using technology in our membership engagement and
retention
– Need to value contributions of a passionate member of a
few years as highly as retaining members for a lifetime

Advocacy
• Are continuing our past track record in
advocacy efforts
• This conference has 3 resolutions
Violence against Women
Female Genital Mutilation / Cutting
Compression Garments for
Lymphoedema sufferers

Advocacy
• Focus at 2009 Area Meetings on
presenting sessions on educating our
members in the ‘How’ & ‘When’ to
undertake advocacy efforts
• Number of Clubs now using the Advocacy
Checklist andResources doubled since
first quarter report

Aligning Projects with ZI Mission &
Objects
• Emphasis on educating membership on
International Service Projects for 2008 –
2010
– business cards contain Zonta Mission and 2008 2010 ZI Service Projects
– encouraging Clubs to phase out B projects and focus
on Z projects

Service Fundraising
• Current District contribution to ZIF
– 70% of our Clubs now contributing (Target is 100%
by end of biennium)
• ZI encouraging all members to donate to
the active funds they like to support and
not the endowment fund

Awards
• 9 Clubs supported YWPA Awards this year
• 8 Clubs supported JMK Awards
• These programs are an integral part of our
strategies to build and strengthen the
Zonta brand and presence in our local
communities

• Our District Award winners Emma Batten
and Danielle Young are presenters here
at our Conference later today
• There are a range of other Bursaries and
Awards that Clubs are involved with
– Don’t abandon them but let’s work with our District
Chairman to ensure young women gain an interest
and passion in joining Zonta as their first choice in
service organisations
