Dress Down Day
• There were will be FREE Dress Down Day on
Friday, January 30th.
• Please follow guidelines in the handbook.
• Pope Francis has designated Monday February
2nd, as the day to celebrate consecrated
life. The 7:20 morning Mass on Monday will
be offered in thanksgiving for the consecrated
who serve our school, especially Dorrie, Sr.
Veronica, Fr. George and Fr. Mark. Please join
us at the 7:20 mass to pray for them and to
thank them for their service to God and to all
of us!
• OC Ski and Snowboard Club
Be sure to check the Ski and Snowboard Club
edmodo page for information possible trips to
Seven Springs for the month of
February. Costs and sign up sheets are in Mr.
Kornosky’s room, 202.
• The Appalachia Mission Trip downpayment is
due this week. Please see Ms. Farrell or
Dorrie today if you want to attend this mission
trip.

take our group photo for the yearbook.

Global Awareness Club Meeting
• There will be a Global Awareness Club
meeting on Thursday, January 29 in Mrs.
Fratto’s room for those interested in helping
to plan the coffeehouse. We will also be
taking the club picture.
• Student doing PJAS Science and MATH
projects this year:
• Plan to attend a meeting on Thursday after
school in Room G24. Bring your computer and
your power point presentation.
• All must attend – if you are not done with
your power point you still must attend.
• Students who signed up to participate in the
Shakespeare Monologue and Scene Contest should
attend a coaching session this Thursday, January 29th
in room J303. Coaches from the Pittsburgh Public
Theatre will be at the session to coach students with
their selections. Therefore, you should bring a copy
of your piece to the meeting. If you have any
questions or can not make the event, please see Mrs.
Rinkacs.

• No admission charge; free-will donations are accepted to benefit
our Parish Project Hope in Appalachia and the Diocesan Mission in
Chimbote, Peru

• All performances are in Getty Hall (our school gymnasium).
• The senior interdisciplinary research paper is
a graduation requirement. Any senior who
does not successfully complete this paper will
not receive an OC diploma. See Mr D in room
207 for information about this paper.
• Campus Ministry is making and serving a
pancake dinner for the women at Bethlehem
Haven Women's Shelter this Friday right after
school from 2:45 - 5:30. Sign up on the
Campus Ministry board if you'd like to go.
• A member from the University of Pittsburgh
Cancer Institute (UPCI) Academy will be at OC on
Tuesday Feb. 3, 3013 from 2:45-3:15 in Ms.
Sirockman's room G23, to answer any questions
about an exciting opportunity to work on a
summer research team focusing on
pharmacy,cancer, bioengineering or
bioinformatics. This is a chance for current
sophomores and juniors to add to those college
applications! Any questions? Please see Ms.
Sirockman in G23
• The Collaboration Center will be closed during
lunches until JOA renovation is complete. If
you need tech help – Mrs. Haslett will be
located in the study area during lunch periods
and then in the Collaboration Center during
periods 7,8,9.
• There will be a brief MAPS meeting on
Monday, February 2nd, directly after school in
the study area.
• The meeting will be to introduce Teens for
Jeans which will launch on Tuesday, February
3rd.

Based on student interest, the following options are available:
Individual Round Robin Pool Play- includes weekly ranking updates, awards,
etc. Play Wednesdays + Thursdays 3-5.
Team Play: players draft teams and compete in a league format.
Personal training/coaching.
Interscholastic play – possible matches against other schools.
Entry to our POTTC league play, and new POTTC Junior Play.
The POTTC is poised to initiate a Junior Table Tennis Venue.
Players under 18 years of age are invited to take advantage of a choice of: 1.
Match play 2. Clinic-style training 3. Personal coaching.
Driver’s Education classes –
Spring Session
• The Driver’s Education class information for the Spring
Session can be obtained in the Main Office.
• We need 25 students enrolled to have the
class. Students must sign up in the Main Office by

• The class will be held on Tuesdays 2:40pm to 5:40pm
for ten weeks starting February 3, 2015.
