QAD 2011 Login
When logging in, choose the database in the login screen.
Select ‘prod’ for production (live data), ‘test’ or ‘train’ for
testing / training (depending on your company’s setup).

Initial Setup Each Computer
• On conversion, each computer
combination needs to be setup

– Tools / Options
• Set these based on company preference
– General: Show Workspace Selector: True
– Guide Me: Enabled – Set to True
– Home Page: Home Page URL - Clear field
» (Initial = Processes / Install Microsoft Silverlight)
– Allow Multiple Applications: True (more than 1 session open)
– Configure left navigation panel
• Messages panel – can’t be seen

QAD Favorites
• Favorites now reside on the server instead of on
individual computers based on user ID.
– Need to be re-created 1 time on conversion.
– Best to run each browse, export to Excel, then save
or print the Search Conditions on the 2nd worksheet.
• For shared user ID’s for ‘casual’ users (ex: rpt),
each user should create their own Favorites
folder.

Quick Search
• Create Quick Search folder(s)
– Drag ONLY Browses into folder – no reports or
inquiries.
– Will search all fields in all browses

Quick Search
Combine multiple browses into one Quick Search Folder to search
all browses at one time using Starts With, Equals, or Contains.

Quick Search will:
Open all browses in the folder.
Search ALL FIELDS in each one based on the Starts With/Equals/Contains field entry.
Select the appropriate records.
Highlight the field that contains the matching selection.

Workflow

To use workflow, click on Actions, then click on Workflow.

“To” field: Enter QAD USER ID.
Create a message the same as an Outlook email.
Be sure to keep the Blue Highlighted link with the screen name.
When message is complete, click Send.

When signed into QAD, receiver will see a notice they have a message in their inbox.
They will also see the number of unread messages on the left.

Click on Inbox to view your messages

Click on Inbox to open email.
All the basic email options are available:
View, create a New message, Reply, Reply All, Forward, Delete.

You can also create an email inside a maintenance screen.
Click on Actions, then click on Email.

Program URL: Click on OK. This
will take the screen URL (location
name) and copy it into a
clipboard. It will also open an
email in Outlook.
The Outlook screen will have a
spot for pasting the URL.
Highlight “[Paste URL here]”, right
click, and click on Copy.

Outlook email with the URL posted. It displays:
Screen name
Key Field entry (in this case, the item number)
URL
You may also add personal notes to the email, ie: “You may now add Group to this record”.
QAD must be open before clicking on the link.
When you receive an email with the URL, click on either link, they will both go to the same
screen in QAD.

when you see this ‘potential security concern’ message.

You will be taken to the screen that was emailed to you.

Image and Text Capture
(All Screens Except Browses)
To capture an image, click on Copy, then click on Image. The image is
captured to a clipboard, and can be pasted wherever you want: Email, MS
Word, Excel, etc. You can NOT copy the image inside QAD’s email.
To capture text, click on Copy, then click on Text.

The text is captured to a clipboard, and can be pasted wherever you want:
Email, MS Word, Excel, etc. You CAN copy the text inside QAD’s email.

Browse Export Options:
Export to CSV, Excel, or PDF
Click on Actions, then click on Export to CSV. You will see a dialog box, and
can choose where to save the file. This can then be pulled into Excel and
modified as needed.
You can, as always, export directly to Excel.
You can also click on Export to PDF, and a PDF copy of the browse will display.

Click on Actions, then on Report.

The browse will automatically be converted to a report inside QAD. This report
can be printed and / or saved.

on ‘Filter’ . . .
Then click on ‘Settings’ for . . .
General, Date Format and Decimal Format
options.
After clicking on ‘Filter’, ‘Document’
dropdown allows selection of multiple
output formats: ‘Document, PDF, PDF
Read Only, TIFF, RTF, Excel, Plain Text’.

Browse Conversion to a Report - Selections
Click on Viewer:
Allows you to select report ‘View Size’, ‘Page Width’, ‘One Page’, ‘Two Pages’,
‘First / Last / Previous / Next Page’.

Browse Modifications: Selection ‘Not Equals’
There is now a NOT EQUALS selection. There is no longer a requirement to
enter 2 selections, Less Than and Greater Than.

Ability

select/deselect
multiple columns at one time.
Card View
Card View converts a browse from a row
format to a column format.

Browse Modifications: Add to Favorites
When adding a browse to Favorites, there is no longer a pop up dialog box
requiring a file save. Just click on Add to Favorites. The screen is added to
your list, and you will see a pop up box advising “This browse has been saved to
your Favorites menu”.
Screens / reports / inquiries will still be added by dragging them into the
Favorites list.

Calendar Dropdown
Calendar dropdown now displays
either previous and current month
or current and next month,
depending on what’s in the field
when the dropdown is clicked.
Today, Tomorrow, etc.
Additional dropdown list selections
include:
‘Today’,
‘Tomorrow’,
‘Yesterday’, ‘Current /Last: Year /
Quarter / Month / Week’, ‘Next/Last:
7/30/60/90/120 Days’, etc.

Open With: .NET User Interface
Some screens have an additional Open with option. Right click on
screen name, left click on Properties, left click on Program, click
the ‘Open with:’ drop down arrow. Select .NET User Interface.

The screen opens as a browse. In this instance, for Product
Structure Maintenance, drag an item or product structure to the
bottom screen.

The product structure displays as an indented list. Click on the +
sign to open a lower level product structure.

Double click on the desired item to modify any fields for that item.
Switch to Desktop or Terminal to add to a product structure.

End Lines – PO/SO Maintenance
Some screens now have an “End Lines” option instead of a ‘Back’ selection.

Output to Text
In the Output field,
type ‘Text’.
Additional options include:
Print – Select printer
Preview – Print preview
Save – Select folder, enter
save file name
PDF – Creates PDF document

There are multiple operational metrics screens available. These will allow all
facilities to report based on the same metrics.
