Access to Online Courses Request Form
Draft – 4/15/08
Per the Academic Employee Master Agreement, all classroom/worksite/electronic
visitations for the purposes of evaluation must be scheduled and mutually agreed
upon. The most effective way for a Dean, Departmental Chair or Tenure Review
Committee to observe an online course is to meet with the faculty member in person,
who will open up their course on the computer and show the evaluator all areas of the
course available to students. There are, however, times when a faculty member
might want to give direct access to an evaluator.
In these instances, the faculty member who teaches the course must give written
consent to the CIDDE staff in order for the evaluator to be added into the course.
Permission will normally be given to access the course in the “student” role for a
period of one week, unless otherwise indicated by the faculty member.
For access to be granted, the following form must be filled out by the faculty member
who teaches the course and then submitted electronically to one of the DE
Specialists.

WORKLOAD
VIII. Course Content and Copyright Materials
1. Course outline and course content
a. Course Outline of Record (Curriculum) as described in 5 CCR §55002, is
the property of the District.
b. Any instructional material developed by a faculty member to instruct,
support, and/or deliver courses, including DE courses, shall remain the
exclusive property of that faculty member, unless the faculty member
and the District have reached a prior alternative agreement regarding
ownership of specific instructional material.
c. The college will have the right of "non-exclusive license" to course
content for a period of one year after course completion only for the
purpose of allowing students to complete a course for which the
content was created and when the faculty member is no longer
available to complete the course.
2. Copyright Ownership
a. Any material created outside of the faculty member's employment with
the District is the exclusive property of the faculty member.
b. Unless the faculty member and the District reach a specific alternative
agreement prior to the creation of the material, any material created by
a faculty member using District resources or support remains the
exclusive property of that faculty member.
The Online and Distance Education Committee of Saddleback
College is currently conducting a survey of our online students so
that we can improve our services and course offerings. It will only
take about 5 minutes of your time and is completely confidential.
Using Internet Explorer or Firefox as your browser, please go to
http://sc-scan-ext.saddleback.edu/classclimate/indexstud.php to
complete the survey. Type in the password: education. If this link
does not work, you can cut and past the URL directly into your
browser.
The deadline for taking the survey is Friday, December 10. Thank
you for your participation.
