Exchange Poland/England 13-22 May 2011 Friday 13 • At 6.30 we left from school to the Balice airport in Cracow. After checking in we walked to the plane. Trip went well, lasted for 2 hours and 30 minutes. In Bristol the airport bus picked us and drove us to the school Pilton. • Everyone was very excited. After greeting with my partner I drove to the house together with Marcel. We ate a delicious lunch, after which our partners showed us the city. Later, we went to the beach to meet up with friends. • We played cricket, and walked on the beach. Everyone had a great time. Then, I came back home, took a shower and watched Pirates of the Caribbean with his family Saturday 14 • In the morning I ate a toast and prepared myself for the trip. Mother drove me to the school and we drove a bus to Bath. We visited a city in a special bus, and we also visited the baths themselves. We saw the church, chapel and a famous building which has half-circular shape. • After visiting the city and its monuments we could go to buy some souvenirs. Later, we went back into a school bus, picked up our parents and we drove to a party at Tom’s place. We ate lasagna and watched the Eurovision contest. After all, I came home and talked with my partner’s mom. Sunday 15 • It was a day with families. In the morning we had a traditional English breakfast. • It was really delicious. I liked beans and bacon best. • After breakfast we drove to the beach where they showed me the beautiful views and small reefs. • Later we walked for hot chocolate. Then, we drove to mini golf course, everyone had much fun playing it. • After returning home, we played on the Wii, and then we ate lunch. After a delicious lunch, I taught them to speak Polish, we had much laughter when they were pronouncing some words wrong, or they could not say a word at all. • In the afternoon, I showed them pictures of my family, and later drank tea and watched movies . Monday 16 • After breakfast we drove to Lyton. We visited there many interesting places, among the other things the Valley of Rocks. • We drove a cable. Later we stopped for the tea in Mother Meldrums Tea Rooms. • • After being back at the school we walked to the bus stop together with other friends. Everyone arrived at my partner’s house where the party was held. We played cricket and other games. After party, the parents picked all the people. I took a shower and talked with the family on various subjects. Tuesday 17 • After breakfast, we drove to the Pilton College where we had dance classes and we learnt moves of robot dance. Everyone had a chance to appear on stage. After the dance classes were sports, then classes in the IT room. • After school we walked on a trip to Barnstaple. We saw various sights. • After a city tour we had a free time for shopping on the High Street. • We came back at the school, and I returned home with my partner. Wednesday 18 • We went to Clovelly/Tintagel • I saw many beautiful views. I visited Tintagel Castle, and also learnt the legend of the creation of the caves. • After coming back into school the parents picked us and drove to a party at Lucy’s place. We ate lunch and walked to the playground to play the game. Thursday 19 • We set off from the school with partners to Devon County Show in Devonshire, we took part in annual Devon’s presentations in Exeter. • During this show we have seen many interesting and historic cars, and we took a ride on a carousels. Everyone had fun. • When we returned to school we went to a party at Joe’s home. We ate dinner, then played rugby, and in the evening we sat by the fire. We had a great time with our friends. Friday 20 • Departure from school Pilton. We visited the city with a tour guide. After short lunch in the cafe we visited the Visitor Centre Quay and saw church and many other sights of this city. • We also saw the narrowest street in the city. After visiting Exeter we went back to school in Pilton. Then, we drove to a party at Kate’s. We played on the playground, and ate kebabs and salads. Everyone was satisfied from this party because it was funny. Saturday 21 • This day we spent with our English families. After a traditional English breakfast, I talked a lot with my family about music, movies, Poland and traditions in Poland. Later, we went on ice-skating and we met up with friends. Everyone had great fun there. Last Meeting • Unfortunately, this was the last day. They organized a goodbye party with campfire on the beach. We played cricket and we walked on the beach. Everyone did a memorial photo With friends. • It was a pity that I had to go back. Sunday 22 • From 8 pm to 2 am I was sitting with the family and we were watching TV and talking. Everyone was very sad that I had to go back. • Around 2.30, I met with the group after that there was goodbye with family and friends which was very sad. After saying goodbye, we went by coach to the airport and flew by plane to Krakow and from there, by bus to school. Thank you for watching my diary from the exchange. • Dawid Słowik
