SUBMITTING AND PROMOTING
YOUR GAME
2
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Before you start, read the learning objectives below. You will
learn about each of these topics in this lesson:
● Available platforms for Construct 2 games
● Online Arcade platforms
● Mobile/Tablet platforms
● Game Contests
3
OBJECTIVE 1 - AVAILABLE PLATFORMS
Before a game is developed, the developers of the game need
to have a platform in mind. The platform will be the final
place the game will end up that will allow others to play the
game. There are many different types of platforms that are
used to play games (XBox, PlayStation, Computer, Wii, mobile
phones, tablets, etc). Construct 2 works well with a number
of different platforms.
4
Because Construct 2 games are built for HTML5 export, they
are primarily meant to be played on a device with a web
browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc). This
makes Construct 2 games perfect for online arcades or online
platforms like the Chrome web store.
Recent technology has also made Construct 2 games available
to be created and exported to mobile and tablet platforms
(iOS, Android, and Windows devices).
5
OBJECTIVE 2 - ONLINE PLATFORMS
You can place your Construct 2 game on many online arcades
and even within a website. There are a few things you need
to consider when making the decision of which of these to
choose.
6
If you're planning on placing your game on your own website
you will not have to worry about many restrictions. If you're
placing the game on another website (that is not an online
arcade) you will need to make sure the website will allow you
to add an HTML5 game. If you know the person that runs the
website and they agree to allow you to put your game on
their site, you will need to make sure they can embed the
HTML5 game correctly in the website.
Here is an online tutorial that walks you through how to
embed a Construct 2 game on a website.

7
If you want to get your game featured on an online arcade
site, you will need to verify the online arcade site accepts
HTML5 games. Each online arcade has different requirements
that determine what types and genres of games the arcade
will accept. Make sure to look into the arcades you would like
to submit your game to prior to building your game. This will
ensure you don't add things into your game that will cause it
to be rejected from the arcade.
The next section will go through different online arcades that
are known to accept Construct 2 HTML5 games and how their
submission process works.
8
SCIRRA ARCADE
The easiest arcade to get your Construct 2 game added to is
the Scirra Arcade. Scirra (the creators of Construct 2) have an
online arcade that makes it easy to get your game online.
You can learn more about Uploading to the Scirra Arcade.
Make sure to read about the limitations to make sure your
game will meet the requirements to be added to the arcade.

KONGREGATE ARCADE
The Kongregate Arcade is an online arcade for Flash and
HTML5 games. The arcade features a large selection of free
online games. If your game gets enough plays on the
Kongregate Arcade, you can earn money through advertising
and virtual goods revenue sharing.
Construct 2 has a built in export option to get your game to
the Kongregate Arcade.

STEM FUSE ARCADE
The STEM Fuse Arcade does not have an automated
submission process but will accept some student Construct 2
games to feature in the Arcade section. Games must be
emailed in a .capx format to [email protected]. The
submission process can take approximately one week. You
will be notified if your game has been accepted through an
email response. When processing your game, STEM Fuse may
request additional information about your game through
email.
11
CHROME WEB STORE
This is not an online arcade and is also not a website. The
Chrome Web Store allows you to build your games and allow
them to be added as apps to a users chrome browser. You can
offer these games for free or for a set price. Although many
games on the Chrome Web Store are available for free, this is
one of the easiest ways to offer your Construct 2 game for
purchase.
12
CHROME WEB STORE
Setting up your game to be able to be added to the Chrome
Web Store can be a complicated process and occasionally
changes as Construct 2 and the Chrome Web Store release
new features and changes. You can learn more on how to get
your game on the Chrome Web Store.

13
OBJECTIVE 3 - MOBILE/TABLET PLATFORMS
Construct 2 has been working on adding support for mobile
and tablet devices. Construct 2 currently has some support
for Android, iOS, and Windows devices. Setting up your game
for these platforms can be complicated and may have
limitations or require additional software. On top of that,
publishing to these online app stores typically requires a
developer registration fee that varies depending on which
platform you are building the game for.
14
ANDROID APPLICATIONS
With the help of tools such as CrossWalk or CacoonJS, you can
export your Construct 2 game and put it into an Android
application ready for the Google Play Store.
You can learn more about using Crosswalk to export to
Android and using CacoonJS to build your app.

15
IOS APPLICATIONS
With the help of tools such as Ejecta or CacoonJS, you can
export your Construct 2 game and put it into an iOS
application ready for the Apple Store.
You can learn more about using Ejecta to export to iOS and
using CacoonJS to build your app.

16
WINDOWS APPLICATIONS
Construct 2 allows you to easily export your games as a
Windows Store App. There are multiple versions of Windows
apps that can be created but the most preferred method is to
build a Universal 8.1+ app that will run on Windows 8.1+ and
Windows Phone 8.1+.
You can learn more about exporting windows store apps.

OBJECTIVE 4 - GAME CONTESTS
There are a variety of different HTML5 or Construct 2 game
contests available. These contests vary in their rules and
prizes, but offer a way for a student to submit a game and
possibly win some fun prizes.
18
STEM FUSE GOT GAME CONTEST
STEM Fuse hosts two Got Game competitions each year. Only
student games created in Construct 2 are allowed. Each
contest has a junior division and a senior division.

OTHER GAME CONTESTS
There are other HTML5 game contests such as the Student
Game Developers: Got Game by Clay.io. Scirra (the creators
of Construct 2) also occasionally post about competitions such
as The Future: 2030 game jam.
There are many other competitions and contests that can be
found by doing some searching. Just make sure to verify the
company behind the competitions is a reputable company
before entering any game competition. Also, check to make
sure you still own the rights to your game after you submit
the game to the competition.

The possibilities discussed in this lesson are only scratching
the surface of what is possible with a Construct 2 game. The
technology is still relatively new and improvements and other
platforms are being added all the time. If you have a platform
in mind for your game, do some research to see if it's
supported or if there is work being done to support the
platform in the future.
You also are not limited to just one platform. You can submit
your game to multiple platforms for even more exposure and
promotion opportunities.
