Project team: Kevyn Moore, Andrew Perrin, Greg Eagles, Rob Mulley P.O. Box 140 Camden 2570 NSW Australia

The Concept

We want to introduce a new idea for club members to consider

Our concept is for a group of young people to be invited to join the Rotary Club of Camden, but not as full members

We believe that this concept is preferable to an attempt to re-introduce a Rotaract Club

Name  After lengthy discussion the committee recommend that the new membership be called “Young Rotarians”  This name will convey exactly what we feel the membership will become, and will assist with recruitment.

Some Guideline Rules

   

Age We recommend that the “Young Rotarians” be between 22 and 32 years old Attendance - In recognition of the lifestyle of young people today, the attendance of “Young Rotarians” would be required on a Fortnightly basis (50%) – However, Community Projects, and Social Events will be counted towards fulfilling that requirement.

The Project “Young Rotarians” will be reviewed annually by the Board Membership “Young Rotarians” can be re-invited to membership as a “Young Rotarian”, or can be invited to become active members of the Rotary Club of Camden inc.

More Guideline Rules

 

Joining – invited on a similar basis to that of an Active Member of the Rotary Club.

Eligibility Criteria – In keeping with the Ideals of Rotary, the following eligibility criteria will apply: 1.

2.

3.

Gainfully Employed Shows Leadership Potential Male or Female

More Guideline Rules

  

Membership Numbers membership of the “Young Rotarians” will be limited to a total of 20% of the Active Membership of the Rotary Club.

Board Representation “Young Rotarians” will not be eligible for membership of the Board of the Rotary Club.

Induction “Young Rotarians” will be inducted in the same way as other Rotary members. They will be provided with mentors , who will be members of the committee for Young Rotarians, plus other members invited to be mentors as required.

Still More Guideline Rules

Membership Fees - a nominal fee of $50 per annum is recommended. This will cover the cost of a dinner badge and other incidental costs.

 

Meals are to be paid on the same basis as Rotary Members.

Dinner badges – will be issued and worn at club meetings to identify “Young Rotarians” to other club members and guests

But wait, there’s more

  

Committee Involvement “Young Rotarians” will assist the Attendance Committee and act as Stewards at club meetings when rostered.

Project Group At least 8 “Young Rotarians” to be inducted at the commencement of this project – this will allow for further inductions up to a maximum of 13, based on current Rotary Membership of 65 Active Members.

Mentors – Will be assigned to each “Young Rotarian”, and will join them at club meetings

Nearly There…..

  

New Members - Prospective Members will be interviewed by the committee in charge of “Young Rotarians”, and invited to join subject to approval of the Board Projects “Young Rotarians” can conduct their own service projects, subject to approval of the Board, and would also be expected to assist with other Rotary projects run by the club eg Christmas Raffle, Show Gates.

Insurance policies – Project covered by existing

The Young Rotarians Committee

 

The present Committee will co-opt other members as required. As with all things in Rotary, this Committee will change over time, but some overlap of committee members each year will be important to ongoing success
