Alpha Beta Gamma® International Business Honor Society

was the first business honor society for accredited junior, community and technical two year colleges. The society exists to

recognize and reward academic excellence

among business honor students and to recognize the contribution to learning by professors, administrators, and business professionals.

Alpha Beta Gamma® is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, is a participating institute in the Association of Canadian Community College Affiliates Network, and is an educational affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).

Background

Organized in 1970 by business chairs and professors, Alpha Beta Gamma® was established to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students in business curricula.

In 1998 the constitution was amended to accept business honor students from Mexico and Canada.

Since its founding, over 55,000 students from accredited community, junior, and technical colleges have been initiated into more than 200 member chapters.

Chapter Membership Requirements

• Dedicated Faculty Advisor needed to monitor chapter working with chapter officers.

• Approval of College President.

• One time chapter application fee of $500 which would be refunded if application is not approved.

• Must be an accredited college.

Advisor Responsibilities

• Promote ABG on campus • Conduct Annual Initiation Ceremony • Support Chapter Development • Nominate Honorary Members

Honors Journal

• Award-winning student essays.

• Fundraising ideas and other help for chapters.

• New chapter updates.

• Articles on leadership and business submitted by professors and members.

• Annual awards criteria.

• Opportunity for students to submit articles for publication.

• Opportunity for faculty to publish.
