In addition to all this, take up the
shield of faith, with which you can
extinguish all the flaming arrows of
the evil one. (Eph. 6:16, NIV 2011)
Ephesians 4:17-19
This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord,
that you should no longer walk as the rest of
the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,
having their understanding darkened, being
alienated from the life of God, because of the
ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart; who, being past
feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness,
to work all uncleanness with greediness.
Colossians 3:1-4
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those
things which are above, where Christ is, sitting
at the right hand of God. Set your mind on
things above, not on things on the earth. For
you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in
God. When Christ who is our life appears,
then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Colossians 3:5-8
Therefore put to death your members which
are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness,
passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is
idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of
God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
in which you yourselves once walked when you
lived in them. But now you yourselves are to
put off all these: anger, wrath, malice,
blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
1 Corinthians 3:18-20
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among
you seems to be wise in this age, let him
become a fool that he may become wise. For
the wisdom of this world is foolishness with
God. For it is written, "He catches the wise in
their own craftiness"; and again, "The Lord
knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are
futile."
James 3:13-16
Who is wise and understanding among you?
Let him show by good conduct that his works
are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you
have bitter envy and self-seeking in your
hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.
This wisdom does not descend from above,
but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where
envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and
every evil thing are there.
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the
Father is not in him. For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and
the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of
the world. And the world is passing away, and
the lust of it; but he who does the will of God
abides forever.
2 Timothy 4:9-10
Be diligent to come to me quickly; for Demas
has forsaken me, having loved this present
world, and has departed for Thessalonica-Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.
Matthew 23:13-14
But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of
heaven against men; for you neither go in
yourselves, nor do you allow those who are
entering to go in. Woe to you, scribes and
Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows'
houses, and for a pretense make long prayers.
Therefore you will receive greater
condemnation.
Acts 20:29-30
For I know this, that after my departure savage
wolves will come in among you, not sparing the
flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise
up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the
disciples after themselves.
Galatians 1:6-7
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from
Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a
different gospel, which is not another; but
there are some who trouble you and want to
pervert the gospel of Christ.
2 Timothy 3:8-9
Be Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted
Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men
of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the
faith; but they will progress no further, for their
folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
2 Timothy 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure
sound doctrine, but according to their own
desires, because they have itching ears, they
will heap up for themselves teachers; and they
will turn their ears away from the truth, and be
turned aside to fables.
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,
for it is the power of God to salvation for
everyone who believes, for the Jew first and
also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness
of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is
written, "The just shall live by faith."
