Gear Selection Examples
FEM gives FS2 =1.4 , FF2 =1.75
Mk2 = 510 x 9550 x 21.3 / 650 = 159 kNm
MN2 >= Mk2 x FS = 159 kNm x 1.4 = 223 kNm
---> size 560, ratio = 21.3 ---> 3 stages
---> 3C560NE-1240 gives actual MN2 = 305 kNm
The gearbox is able to take a short time load of 2 x PN1. therefore it is important to
check the peak load conditions.
Mk2 (peak) = 300 kNm
2 x MN2 >= Mk2 (peak) x FF2
2 x 305 kNm > 300 x 1.75 kNm, 610 kNm > 300 x 525 kNm ---> OK
Radial load must be checked with Henw calculation separately by designer. There may
need to modify the bearing size, which in turns change some of the shaft dimension in
each case.
