Our flag

 Our flag is white, blue and red. These are Slovanic colours, which appear in most of Slovanic flags.

Location

 Middle Europe  Next to Italy, Austria, Croatia, Hungary.

 The state has a shape of a chicken.

Capital / population

  The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana. It has a population about 280,000 people. Typical for this town is its bridge

and a dragon, that is on the bridge.

A favorite poem of ours

 Zdravljica is the Anthem of Slovenia. It was written by Prešeren, a well-known poem. The poem is about Slovenia and its people.

A product of our country

 ELAN skies are very famous. First carving skies were produced in Slovenia.

Food from our country

 Our favourite special food is "

potica

". It's a walnut roll. We eat this dessert for holidays (specially for Easter and Christmas).

For making it you need: flour, yeast, eggs, nuts, sugar, salt. It's not easy to make it. Grandmothers usually bake it.

A proverb that we like

Slovenian prover: Kar seješ, to žanješ!!!

A famous person

Herman Potočnik Noordung

was a doctor and a high navy officer. He was born

December 22, 1892 and died August 27, 1929

. He was an engineer. He entirely devoted himself to the problems of rocket science and space technology.

OUR TOWN

   This is our town Celje. It is in the central part of Slovenia, next to the river Savinja.

It is a town with around 46000 people.

It is a very beautiful city and has many castles, cafes, a cinema, schools and a library. You can see the castle called Stari grad.   There’s a lake Šmartinsko jezero. You can go boating or fishing.

You can go skiing to Celjska koča.

OUR SCHOOL

l. OŠ Celje is a very old and beautiful school in Celje.

It is big and yellow colour.

We have many classrooms, a playground, a library … The headmaster is Mr Branko Močivnik.

Our school subjects this year are: Art, Science, Maths, English, Sport, Craft, German, Slovene, Music, Geography, History. The school has 400 students. We don't wear a uniform. Our school was the first school in Celje.

OUR SCHOOL DAY

     Our school day starts at 8.00 a.m. and finishes at 1.15 or 2.00 p.m.

We have a big break for 20 minutes and a small for 5 minutes.

Some children have lunch at school and some at home. We eat different food.

In our free time we do homework, play different games and talk on the phone.

We like our school. School excursions are the best.
