Rara PDO IV – IMCS/LRMDS The LRMDS Portal http://lrmds.deped.gov.ph Login and Register 1. Go to http://lrmds.deped.gov.ph 2. At the homepage, click Register 3. Fill in the required information, then click Save Access to Published Resources Search Engine: generates a list of resources by typing a keyword/topic Browse Views: • K to 12 Ladder – LRs are organized according to Grade Level/ Learning Area/ Topic • Catalogue View – browse LRs according to Learning Areas Access to Published Resources Media Gallery: selecting the “Create” icon at the home page allows teachers to create their own resource by using DepEd owned photos, illustrations, video, and audio files. Process of Publishing LRs All content located via the LRMDS are catalogued. Central/Regional administration and publication group supervises the operations. 1. Cataloguing Resources and Upload • Create a catalogue with resource metadata (i.e., general information, technical, educational, and rights) • Validate metadata before submitting for publication 4. Publication • Publish approved resources 1. Conformance Review Purpose: • Manage, maintain and improve access to quality resources (LR Manager) • Comply with agreed standards and specifications (Development and production teams) • Identify quality resources in relation to educational need (schools and teachers) • Monitor and evaluate LRMDS implementation and sustainability 1. Conformance Review Check resource if it conforms with LRMDS Specifications: • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) • Educational soundness • Social Content Guidelines • Accessibility • Technical 2. Production Process for Publication Purpose: • Support local production and redevelopment of resources in response to local needs • Support increased access to learning, teaching, and professional development resources 2. Cataloguing Resources and Upload Purpose: • Provide information on quantity, quality, and location of textbooks and supplementary materials • Allows users of the system to access directly digitized versions of resources that are published and stored within the LRMDS repository 3. Cataloguing Resources and Upload What is metadata? a set of data that describes and gives information about other data The focus of the LRMDS Metadata specification is to allow the data within the LRMDS to be systematically searched, stored, catalogued, managed, and reused Metadata in the LRMDS Portal The metadata is used to find resources and to select resources • General metadata: title, description, keywords • Educational metadata: domain, discipline, pedagogy • Life cycle metadata: origin, creation, version, contributors • Technical metadata: size, format, media • Rights Management metadata: copyright, permissions, conditions of use • Meta-metadata: management and maintenance
