Public Works Projects

Project No. 2009-04 “Street Improvements and Sidewalk Improvements at Various Locations”

 

Bids were received and opened on November 10, 2009. Larry Jacinto Construction, Inc. from Mentone, California was the lowest bidder.

Scope of work includes: 1. Sidewalk and handicap ramps along the West side of Woodland Avenue from Ramsey Street to George Street and the east side of Sims Street from Williams Street to Nicolet Street.

2. Handicap Ramps at various locations throughout the City.

3. Intersection Improvement at Apex Ave to Ramsey Street.

4. Left turn lane improvements at Ramsey Street and the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital entrance.

Project No. 2009-01 “Airport Drainage Improvements and Lincoln Street Improvements”

 

Project No. 2009-01 has been awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Matich Corporation from San Bernardino, CA.

The Scope of Work includes grinding/cold planing of existing asphalt; street grading, placing new A.C. and base, and A.C. overlay per the City Engineer’s recommendations; sidewalks, curb and gutters, driveways, cross gutters, spandrels and handicap ramps in accordance with the City of Banning and CALTRANS Standard Specifications; adjusting manholes and water valve covers to grade; removing and replacing water services, water meter boxes, and mailboxes when required by the Public Works Inspector; striping improvements, installation of street lights, relocation of power poles; and cleaning; etc.

Project No. 2009-01 “Airport Drainage Improvements and Lincoln Street Improvements”

  

The City of Banning Electric Division and Water Division have completed relocating their infrastructure outside of the new road section.

Matich Corporation has begun grading the north and east sides of Lincoln Street and Hathaway Street respectively and they have also relocated the existing fence along the Airport property.

The electrical sub-contractor has began installing conduit to feed the proposed street lights.

Construction of the New Banning Police Station

 Contractor Oakview Constructors, Inc., continues to make progress on the construction of the new Banning Police Station which is scheduled through December, 2009.

Construction of the New Banning Police Station

   Lower Level: Installation of the elevator system has commenced; painting and t-grid are now substantially complete.

Upper Level: Rough electrical plumbing and the HVAC system are substantially complete; window installation, taping and store front are now complete.

Site: Irrigation, fine grading, hardscape, site masonry walls are now complete.

Sunset Avenue Grade Separation

     

PSR has been submitted to Department of Transportation for approval.

Visual Impact Report is in progress.

Preliminary Environmental Assessment Report (PEAR) is being processed.

Traffic report is complete and submitted to Department of Transportation.

Design is about 40% complete.

Right-of-way study is being prepared

Adopt Resolution No. 2009-90, establishing a revised and updated fee schedule applicable under the Western Riverside County TUMF program and adopting a temporary TUMF reduction.

Proposed Ordinance to Update Participation in the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee ( TUMF ) Program and adopt a Temporary TUMF Reduction; Resolution Adopting a TUMF Schedule and Temporary TUMF Reduction.

A total of (24) people signed in for Engineering services during the month of November.

(0) Public Works Permit, (4) Excavation Permits, (6) Oversized Load Permits, and (0) Grading Permit were issued. The department also collected $1696.00 in total fees for November.
