Years 5 and 6 - 30 minutes per day.

Homework in Year X

• • • We plan homework carefully alongside work that children do at school to ensure that all activities are appropriate for individual children. Your child shouldn’t be expected to spend much longer on homework than the recommended times. Guidelines are available this afternoon.

Sports & PE Kit

• For PE, children should wear a t-shirt, navy or black shorts and school plimsolls with non-marking soles (not trainers) - these are essential for indoor activities. All pupils have been placed in one of four houses and should wear the appropriate colour t-shirt:

Nelson (blue) Cavell (red) Walpole (green) Vancouver (yellow)

Sports & PE Kit

• Stud Earrings (if worn) must be removed or covered with plasters/micropore tape (to be supplied by parents) for all sports activities. No earrings can be worn for swimming. • In addition, Key Stage 2 children will require trainers or football boots and a track suit for outdoor games in the colder weather.

• We stress the need for plimsolls for all children during indoor activities as they enable children to have a better feel of the surface they are travelling along.

Sports & PE Kit

• For swimming sessions, it is essential for children to have a swimming costume or pair of trunks with a swimming hat and towel. The swimming pool rules specify that girls should wear a one piece swimming costume and boys wear trunks or short swimming shorts. • It is essential that all PE/games/swimming clothing and footwear is clearly named. P.E. clothing should be placed in a named bag, brought into school on Monday to be available all week, and taken home at the end of each week.

Assessments

• • Assessments for Year X will take place throughout the year and you will be informed about your child’s progress through their annual report and parental consultations.

A specific assessment week for Year X will start on Monday Xth May – please make sure your child is in school for this week and avoid medical appointments or holidays.
