The Polish White Eagle
A thousand years
ago there lived
three brothers,
Lech, Czech, and
Rus. The families
grew larger and
they needed more
space. The
brothers decided
to travel in different
directions to
search for new
homes.
● They traveled long and the brothers decided

to the right and Lech rode straight . Rus setted
up Russia and Czech – Czech Republic.
● One day Lech saw the eagle's
nest.
● "Here is where we will stay! We
will call this place GNIEZNO."
declared Lech.

They made a banner with a white
eagle on a red field and flew it
over the town of Gniezno which
became the first historical capital
of Poland.

between the Tutonic Knights under the leadership of
Grand Master Ulrich von Jungingen and the combined
forces of the Polish, Lithuanian-Ruthenian and Czech
troops under the command of Władysław Jagiełło and
Lithuanian Duke Vytautas.

surrender of Germany on 11th November 1918. On 11th
November Poland regained independence after 123
years of partition between Russia, Prussia and
Austria. Since 1989 it is a public holiday in Poland
II WORLD WAR
In Poland, World War II started on the 1st
September 1939. 16 days later, on the 17th
September, Poland was also attacked by
USSR (the Union of Soviet Socialist
Republics, also known as Soviet Union). The
war lasted six years. On 8th May 1945,
Germany surrendred.
