Devi and her family are from Bhutan
•The government told them they had to be Buddhist if they
wanted to go to school or get a job
•So they walked to Nepal,
a nearby country, to avoid
violence from the government
• In Nepal, they weren’t citizens, so they couldn’t
get a job or go to Nepali schools
• But they were safe and went to school in their
refugee camp
• Now they live in Cleveland in West Park
In 2012, the USA welcomed
58,238 refugees
Caring for People with Disabilities
Many kinds of disabilities exist
In the United States, there are many services available
to people with disabilities
Youth Challenge is a local organization that offers
sports and recreational activities for children with
physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy, muscular
dystrophy, spina bifida, or vision or hearing
impairments
Caring for Expectant Mothers in Need
A support system is needed for expectant mothers,
especially those from low income families or who are
single moms
The Baby Bottle Campaign for Birthright is going on
right now
Birthright provides
maternity and infant clothing,
housing and medical referrals,
and adoption information
Caring for the Elderly
Nursing homes and assisted living facilities are always
looking for volunteers to visit with patients and
residents
Caring for God’s Creation
We are called to be good stewards of the world and its
resources
This means that we need to respect and take care of
all parts of creation, including water, air, land, and all
living creatures
We also need to work to ensure that all people have
access to the world’s resources
