The Judgment of Sin
A Proclamation:
Genesis 6:3 “And the Lord said, my spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he
also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.”
Man is Flesh—Nature is now totally given over to sin.
Majority of the world had begun to serve Satan
Genesis 6:5 “And God saw the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every
imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Gen.6:6-7 “And it repented (grieved) the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it
grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from
the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it
repenteth (grieved) me that I have made them.”
Gen.6:8,14,17 “But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.”
“Make thee an ark of gopher wood….”
“And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to
destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every
thing that is in the earth shall die.”
When we sin the
judgment is always
punishment.
A price must be paid for our sins.
The Longsuffering of God:
2Pet.3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise,
as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to
us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all
should come to repentance.”
1Pet.3:20 “Which sometime were disobedient, when
once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of
Noah, while the ark was a preparing…”
2Pet.2:5 “And spared not the old world, but saved Noah
the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing
in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;”
The Way of Salvation
Get on the Boat!
The Ark would bring salvation from the
destruction of the flood.
To anyone who would hearken to God’s
longsuffering and repent of their sins.
This would involve Getting on the Boat!
Is there a boat for us?
Like people before the flood, we sin.
Rom.3:9-10 “…for we have before proved
both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under
sin; As it is written, There is none righteous,
no not one:”
Every person that has ever set foot on the
earth has made the decision to sin.
The Judgment of Sin
Rom.2:2,6,8-9 “But we are sure that the Judgment of God is
according to truth against them which commit such things;
Who will render to every man according to his deeds;
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the
truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man
that doeth evil….”
Demands Vengeance
The Way of Salvation
Rom.3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”
John3:17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn
the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
Rom.3:24-25 “Being justified freely by his grace through the
redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be
a propitiation through faith in his blood,….”
Redemption--releasing one from guilt upon receipt of a ransom. Which
makes complete satisfaction for the offences committed.
Propitiation—an atoning victim making complete satisfaction for sin.
A covering for sin by means of a sacrifice.
